SkP 11.42.10

यस्य बीजं मलं मूत्रं क्षुतं मूत्रं मलं तु वा 4.1.42.

Whose semen, excrement, urine, or sneeze, or urine or excrement,

SkP 11.42.12

व्यभ्रेह्नि वारिपूर्णास्यः पृष्ठीकृत्य दिवाकरम्

With mouth full of water, looking back at the sun, under a cloudless sky,

SkP 11.42.13

अरुंधतीं ध्रुवं चैव विष्णोस्त्रीणिपदानि च

Arundhati, Dhruva, and the three steps of Vishnu,

SkP 11.42.14

अरुंधती भवेज्जिह्वा ध्रुवो नासाग्रमुच्यते

Arundhati is said to be the tongue, Dhruva is the tip of the nose.

SkP 11.42.15

वेत्ति नीलादिवर्णस्य कटम्लादिरसस्यहि

He perceives the color blue and the taste of bitterness and sourness.

SkP 11.42.16

षण्मासमृत्योर्मर्त्यस्य कंठोष्ठरसना रदाः

For six months before death, the throat, lips, tongue, and teeth of a mortal—

SkP 11.42.17

रेतः करजनेत्रांता नीलिमानं भजंति चेत्

If semen, fingers, or eyes take on a bluish hue,

SkP 11.42.19

द्रुतमारुह्यशरठस्त्रिवर्णो यस्य मस्तके

Quickly ascending, the three-colored streak appears on his head.

सुस्नातस्यापि यस्याशु हृदयं परिशुष्यति 4.1.42.

Even after bathing well, if a person's heart quickly dries up,

SkP 11.42.21

प्रतिबिंबं भवेद्यस्य पदखंडपदाकृति

If someone's reflection appears broken or in fragments,

SkP 11.42.22

छाया प्रकंपते यस्य देहबंधेपि निश्चले

If the shadow of someone trembles, even when the body is steady and bound,

SkP 11.42.23

निजस्य प्रतिबिंबस्य नीराज्यमुकुरादिषु

If one's own reflection is not seen in water, clarified butter, or mirrors,

SkP 11.42.24

मतिर्भ्रश्येत्स्खलेद्वाणी धनुरैद्रं निरक्षितै

If the mind becomes confused, speech falters, or the bowstring slips from the hand,

SkP 11.42.25

दिवा च तारकाचक्रं रात्रौ व्योमवितारकम्

If one sees the circle of stars during the day, or the sky filled with stars at night,

SkP 11.42.26

भूरुहे भूधराग्रे च गंधर्वनगरालयम्

If one sees the city of the Gandharvas on a tree or at the summit of a mountain,

SkP 11.42.27

सर्वेष्वेतेषु चिह्नेषु यद्येकमपि वीक्षते

If, among all these signs, a person perceives even one,

SkP 11.42.28

करावरुद्ध श्रवणः शृणोति न यदा ध्वनिम्

If, with ears covered by the hands, one does not hear any sound,

SkP 11.42.29

यः पश्येदात्मनश्छायां दक्षिणाशा समाश्रिताम्

Whoever sees his own shadow resting in the southern direction,

SkP 11.42.30

प्रोह्यते भक्ष्यते वापि पिशाचासुरवायसैः 4.1.42.

Is driven away or devoured by demons, spirits, or crows,

SkP 11.42.31

रासभैः करभैः कीशैः श्वेनैरश्वतरैर्बकैः

By donkeys, camels, monkeys, dogs, mules, or cranes,

SkP 11.42.32

गंधपुष्पांशुकैः शोणैः स्वां तनुं भूषितां नरः

Or if a man sees his own body adorned with fragrant flowers, red garments,

SkP 11.42.33

पांसुराशि च वल्मीकं यूपदंडमथापि वा

Or a heap of dust, an anthill, or even a sacrificial post,

SkP 11.42.34

रासभारूढमात्मानं तैलाभ्यक्तं च मुंडितम्

Or sees himself riding a donkey, anointed with oil, or with a shaven head,

SkP 11.42.35

स्वमौलौ स्वतनौ वापि यः पश्येत्स्वप्नगो नरः

If a man sees in a dream his own head or body,

SkP 11.42.36

लोहदंडधरं कृष्णं पुरुषं कृष्णवाससम्

Or a black man holding an iron staff, dressed in black garments,

SkP 11.42.37

काली कुमारी यं स्वप्ने बद्नीयाद्बाहु पाशकैः

Or if the goddess Kālī or Kumārī binds him in a dream with nooses around the arms,

SkP 11.42.38

नरो यो वानरारूढो यायात्प्राचीदिशं स्वपन्

A man who rides upon a monkey in a dream and goes toward the eastern direction—

SkP 11.42.39

कृपणोपि वदान्यः स्याद्वदान्यः कृपणो यदि

Even a miser becomes generous, if a generous man becomes a miser.

SkP 11.42.40

एतानि कालचिह्नानि संत्यन्यानि बहून्यपि 4.1.42.

These are signs of time; there are many other such marks as well.

SkP 11.42.41

न कालवंचनोपायं मुनेन्यमवयाम्यहम्

O sage, I do not know of any means to deceive time.
