Then the god spoke to those two sons, who were eager for fruit,
This entire earth, encircled by the world and the netherworld,
When the lord of Pārvatī had spoken thus, his face shone with a gentle smile.
Then Lambodara, son of the god whose form is like the crimson mountain,
Seeing his cleverness, Triyambaka addressed Heramba.
From this day forth, you are the chief among all fruits.
And he spoke to all the gods and asuras assembled in the hall.
This form of mine is immovable, like the crimson mountain, due to his devotion.
Whoever, in circumambulating this mountain, feels pain in his foot,
Thus, by the command of Śambhu, the circumambulation of the crimson mountain
You two as well, adorned by the pride born of me, have been instructed by me.
Even if done secretly by you both, the circumambulation of Aruṇādri will succeed.
Thus, the curse of the great sage, who was angered and whose body was dried by the poison of the ocean, was removed.
O foremost of kings, you attained the state of being an animal fit for riding.
And I, by the birth of my own limb, took the form of a musk deer.
O righteous one, now you have come under the pretext of hunting.
Because of the fault in mounting the steed, you experienced such a condition.
O king, because of your connection, I am released from the bondage of animal birth.
Having said this, he, the bearer of the crescent, wished to return to his own abode.
Thus, you both, by the power of Śaṃkara of the crimson mountain,
My mind seems to whirl, having fixed itself upon that vision.
The two, radiant as moon-crested ones, spoke: 'Understand clearly; we will tell you the means of deliverance at your request.'
He is the Lord who governs the creation, maintenance, dissolution, and grace of the universe.
Now, before your very eyes, the majesty of this god has been revealed.
Circumambulate on foot, perfumed with musk, in reverence.
Whatever prosperity you possess, O Lord, offer it all.
Very soon, you will attain a great accomplishment.
With unwavering mind, he then devoted himself in deep faith to the Lord of Arunachala.
Thus ends the twenty-third chapter, called 'The Account of the Moon-crested Radiant Ones,' in the Uttarardha of the Arunachala Mahatmya, in the first Maheshvara Khanda of the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahapurana.
Nandisha, the conduct of these two learned ones is remarkable and has been heard.
