In this Aruṇa-kshetra, all attainments are easily obtained.
This act of pleasing the Lord of Śoṇa-giri was performed by the daughter of the mountain king.
I am delighted by you, by the nectar of the greatness of the Lord of Śoṇa.
How did Vajrāṅgada, the king of the Pāṇḍyas, cross over the Śoṇa?
How did the two lords of the Vidyādharas, radiant and adorned with garlands, do so?
If this devotion of yours to the Lord of beings is steadfast—
I shall tell the tale of Vajrāṅgada, and also the deeds of the knower of knowledge.
Once, there was a king among the Pāṇḍyas named Vajrāṅgada.

There, he saw a musk deer, exuding a strong fragrance.
That deer, pursued by him, ran toward the Śoṇa mountain.

Afflicted for reasons unknown, as if tormented by an elephant.
He thought, 'What is this causeless turmoil of my mind?'
While he was thus troubled and unable to discern the cause,
He saw, as he was observing, two beings who had abandoned their animal bodies.

O king, do not grieve; it is due to the power of the lord of Śoṇa mountain.
Then, somewhat reassured by them, the king spoke.
Who are you two, by whom such an encounter has happened to me?
When he asked this question, Kalādhara replied to him.
Know, O king, that we were once lords among the Vidyādharas.
