In the worship of a worthy recipient, such a result is not obtained.
She is conceived in the fire of my energy, enveloped by my great power.
By merely remembering the Ganga, the cage of accumulated sins—
Whoever goes to the Ganga alone, or inspires another with devotion—
Whether going, standing, sitting, eating, awake, sleeping, or speaking—
Whoever, with devotion, offers to the ancestors rice cooked with milk and honey—
His ancestors become satisfied, O Hari, for a hundred years.
When the liṅga is worshipped, all is worshipped, just as the universe itself.
But the man who, having bathed in the Ganga, worships the liṅga daily—
The agnihotra, the sacrifices, the vows, gifts, and austerities—
Having firmly resolved to go to the Ganga, and having performed śrāddha and other rites at home,
the sins, lamenting quickly, cry out, 'Alas! Where shall we go now?'
Just as this person is about to go to the Ganga, so do we create obstacles for him.
As he departs from his house for the purpose of bathing in the Ganga, at every step,
by the merit accumulated in previous births, abandoning greed and the like, O Hari,
by means of association, by wealth, by trade, or even by service,
even if touched without desire, just as fire burns,
one remains deluded in the world until one serves the Ganga.
He who bathes in the waters of the Ganga with devotion, having abandoned all doubts,
if, while intent on bathing in the Ganga, he dies along the way,
those who listen to or recite the greatness of the Ganga,
people of wicked mind, evil conduct, skeptical and full of many doubts,
by gifts, austerities, restraints, and vows performed in previous births,
for the sake of one devoted to the Ganga, even in the cities of Indra and others,
perfections, marks of perfection, and marks of touch, in many forms,
remain within the waters of the Ganga, out of fear of the sins of the Kali age.
Just as darkness at sunrise, or trees out of fear of a thunderbolt,
so does delusion vanish through true knowledge, as deer flee upon seeing a lion.
Just as divine herbs remove diseases, and virtues are destroyed by greed,
As cotton or a mountain of cotton is consumed in an instant by a spark,
