औषधेष्वेव यत्रास्ति कुष्ठयोगो न मानवे
Where only in medicines is there a connection with leprosy, not among humans.
कंपःसात्त्विकभावोत्थो न भयात्क्वापि कस्यचित्
Trembling arises from sattvic feeling, never from fear in anyone, anywhere.
दुर्लभत्वं सदा कस्य सुकृतेन च वस्तुनः
The rarity of any good thing is always due to merit.
दानहानिर्गजेष्वेव द्रुमेष्वेव हि कंटकाः
Loss of gifts is only among elephants, and thorns only among trees.
बाणेषु गुणविश्लेषो बंधोक्तिः पुस्तके दृढा
Separation of the string is among arrows, and the statement of binding is firmly in the book.
दंडवार्ता सदा यत्र कृतसंन्यासकर्मणाम् 4.1.24.
Where talk of punishment is always about those who have performed the acts of renunciation.
यत्र क्षपणका एव दृश्यंते मलधारिणः
Where only mendicants are seen, bearing filth.
इत्यादि गुणवद्देशे त्वयिराज्यं प्रशासति
In such a virtuous land, you rule as king.
सौभाग्यभाजि रूपाढ्ये शौर्यौदार्यगुणान्विते
Blessed with good fortune, endowed with beauty, valor, generosity, and noble qualities.
राज्ञीनामयुतंभावि कुमाराणां शतत्रयम्
The queens will have ten thousand sons, and the princes will number three hundred.
विजितानेकसमरः श्रीसंतर्पितमार्गणः
Having conquered many battles, his arrows are satisfied with prosperity.
संततावभृथक्लिन्न मूर्धजः क्षितिषर्षभः
The king, his hair wet from the concluding bath of sacrifice, is the foremost among rulers.
पदारविंदं गौविंदं हृदि ध्यायन्नतंद्रितः
Meditating tirelessly in his heart upon the lotus feet of Govinda,
कदाचिदुपविष्टःसन्मध्ये राजसभं द्विज
Once, O twice-born, while seated in the midst of the royal assembly,
तत्कर्मभाविसदृशैस्तदात्वमभिनंदितः
He was then honored in accordance with the deeds destined for that time.
श्रीमद्विश्वेश्वरो देवो विश्वेषां जगतां गुरुः 4.1.24.
The glorious Lord Viśveśvara, the god, the teacher of all the worlds,
नैःश्रेयसीं च संपत्तिं यो देयात्स्मरणादपि
Who grants the highest prosperity even by mere remembrance,
येन पुण्येन ते प्राप्तं राज्यं प्राज्यमकंटकम्
By whose merit you obtained a vast and untroubled kingdom,
यस्य प्रसादात्सुलभमायुः पुत्रांबरागनाः
By whose grace long life, sons, garments, and women are easily attained,
नामश्रवणमात्रेण यस्य विश्वेशितुर्विभोः
By merely hearing the name of that all-pervading Lord Viśveśvara,
त्वं वृद्धकालो भूपालः श्रुत्वेत्याशीः परंपराम्
You, an aged king, having heard this, should transmit the blessing in succession.
आकारगोपनं कृत्वा तेभ्यो दत्त्वा धनं बहु
Concealing your intent, and giving them much wealth,
अनंगलेखया राज्ञ्या ततः काशीं गमिष्यसि
Then, with a letter from the queen, you will go to Kāśī.
स्वनाम्ना तत्र संस्थाप्य लिंगं निर्वाणकारणम्
There, establishing a liṅga in your own name, the cause of liberation,
विधाय विधिवत्तत्र कलशारोपणादिकम्
Performing there, according to rule, the installation of the water-pot and other rites,
महाध्वजपताकाश्च च्छत्रचामरदर्पणम् 4.1.24.
With great banners and flags, umbrellas, fly-whisks, and mirrors,
व्रतोपवासनियमैः परिक्षीणकलेवरः
With your body worn down by vows, fasts, and disciplines,
अतीवजीर्णवपुषं परिपिंगजटान्वितम्
With a body extremely aged, adorned with tawny matted hair,
भारं शरीरयष्टेश्च दृढयष्ट्यां समर्प्य च
Placing the weight of your body upon a sturdy staff,
उपविश्य समीपे ते प्रक्ष्यत्येवमनुक्रमात्
Sitting nearby, you will ask in this manner, step by step.
