पतत्रिभिः किंनरैश्च सर्वैः स्थावरजंगमैः
By birds, Kinnaras, all beings both stationary and moving.
ततोहरिर्महेशेन संसदि द्युसदां तदा
Then Hari, with Maheshvara, in the assembly of the celestial beings at that time.
त्वं कर्ता सर्वभूतानां पाता हर्ता त्वमेव च
You are the creator of all beings, the protector, and indeed the destroyer.
दाता धर्मार्थकामानां शास्ता दुर्नयकारिणाम् 4.1.23.
You are the giver of righteousness, wealth, and desire, the ruler of those who act wrongly.
इच्छाशक्तिः क्रियाशक्तिर्ज्ञानशक्तिस्तथोत्तमा
Willpower, power of action, and the highest power of knowledge.
त्वद्द्वेष्टारो हरे नूनं मया शास्याः प्रयत्नतः
O Hari, those who hate you must surely be disciplined by me with effort.
मायां चापि गृहाणेमां दुष्प्रणोद्यां सुरासुरैः
And accept this Māyā, which is difficult for gods and demons to dispel.
वामबाहुर्मदीयस्त्वं दक्षिणोसौ पितामहः
You are my left arm, and the right is Pitāmaha.
वैकुंठैश्वर्यमासाद्य हरेरित्थं हरः स्वयम्
Having attained the sovereignty of Vaikuṇṭha, Hari thus became Hara himself.
तदा प्रभृति देवोसौ शार्ङ्गधन्वा गदाधरः
From that time, the god with the Śārṅga bow and the mace became so.
इति ते कथिता विप्र लोकानां च परिस्थितिः
Thus, O brāhmaṇa, the condition of the worlds has been described to you.
इदं तु परमाख्यानं शृणुयाद्यः समाहितः
Whoever listens with attention to this supreme narrative,
यज्ञोत्सवे विवाहे च मंगलेष्वखिलेष्वपि
at sacrifices, weddings, and all auspicious occasions,
सर्वाधिकारदानेषु नववेश्मप्रवेशने 4.1.23.
at all ceremonies of granting authority, and when entering a new house,
अपुत्रो लभते पुत्रमधनो धनवान्भवेत्
a sonless man obtains a son, and a poor man becomes wealthy.
जप्यमेतत्प्रयत्नेन सततं मंगलार्थिना
This should always be recited with effort by one who desires auspiciousness.
गणावूचतुः शिवशर्मन्नुदर्कं ते कथयावो निशामय
The Gaṇas said: O Śivaśarman, listen as we tell you the result.
ब्रह्मणो वत्सरं पूर्णं रममाणोऽप्सरोगणैः
You will enjoy a full year of Brahmā, delighting with groups of apsarases.
भविष्यसि महीपालो नगरे नंदिवर्धने
You will become a king in the city of Nandivardhana.
कृष्टिभिर्हृष्टपुष्टैश्च रम्यहाटकभूषणैः
With ploughmen who are joyful and strong, adorned with beautiful golden ornaments,
सदासंपन्नसस्यं च सूर्वरक्षेत्रसंकुलम्
with fields always abundant with crops, crowded with excellent lands,
देवतायतनानां च राजिभिः परिराजितम्
and surrounded by rows of temples of the gods,
सुपुष्प कृत्रिमोद्यानाः ससदाफलपादपाः
with artificial gardens full of splendid flowers and trees always bearing fruit,
सदंभा निम्नगाराजिर्न यत्र जनता क्वचित्
with rows of deep lakes, where people are never seen anywhere.
विभ्रमो यत्र नारीषु नविद्वत्सु च कर्हिचित्
Where there is no confusion regarding women, nor ever among the ignorant.
तमोयुक्ताः क्षपा यत्र बहुलेषु न मानवाः 4.1.24.
Where the nights are filled with darkness, and among the many, there are no humans.
धनैरनंधो यत्रास्ति मनो नैव च भोजनम्
Where there is no blindness caused by wealth, and the mind is not absorbed in food.
दंडः परशुकुद्दाल वालव्य जनराजिषु
Where punishment is found among crowds of people wielding axes, hoes, and clubs.
अन्यत्राक्षिकवृंदेभ्यः क्वचिन्न परिदेवनम्
Except among groups of gamblers, there is never any lamentation.
जाड्यवार्ता जलेष्वेव स्त्रीमध्या एव दुर्बलाः
Talk of dullness is only among the waters, and weakness only among women.
