योगेषु व्यतिपातस्त्वं तृणेषु हि कुशो भवान् 4.1.21.
Among conjunctions, you are Vyatipāta; among grasses, you are Kuśa.
सर्वासामिह बुद्धीनां धर्मबुद्धिर्भवानज
Of all forms of understanding here, you are the understanding of righteousness, O unborn one.
प्राणायामोसि सर्वेपु साधनेषु शुचिष्वहो
Among all practices, you are prāṇāyāma; among pure acts, you are the offering.
मित्राणां हि कलत्रं त्वं धर्मस्त्वं सर्वबंधुषु
Among friends, you are the spouse; among all relatives, you are righteousness.
त्वमेव माता त्वं तातस्त्वं सुतस्त्वं महाधनम्
You alone are the mother, you are the father, you are the son, you are great wealth.
सा कथा यत्र ते नाम तन्मनो यत्त्वदर्पितम्
That is the story where your name is spoken, that is the mind which is offered to you.
तद्धनं धनिनां शुद्धं यत्त्वदर्थे व्ययीकृतम्
That is the pure wealth of the wealthy which is spent for your sake.
तावच्च जीवितं श्रेयो यावत्त्वं हृदि वर्तसे
Life is blessed only as long as you abide in the heart.
महापापानि गोविंद बहुजन्मार्जितान्यपि
Even great sins, O Govinda, accumulated over many births—
अहो पुंसां महामोहस्त्वहो पुंसां प्रमादता
Alas, what great delusion afflicts men! Alas, what heedlessness in men!
इदमेव हि मांगल्यमिदमेव धनार्जनम् 4.1.21.
Indeed, this alone is auspiciousness; this alone is the means of acquiring wealth.
अधोक्षजात्परोधर्मो नार्थो नारायणात्परः
There is no higher dharma than that relating to the Supreme Person; there is no purpose higher than Nārāyaṇa.
इयमेव परा हानिरुपसर्गो यमेवहि
This alone is the greatest loss; this alone is the true affliction.
हरेराराधनं पुंसां किं किं न कुरुते बत
Indeed, what is there that the worship of Hari by people does not accomplish?
हरत्यघं ध्वंसयति व्याधीनाधीन्नियच्छति
It removes sin, destroys calamities, and restrains diseases.
भगवच्चरणद्वंद्वं निर्द्द्वंद्व ध्यानमुत्तमम्
The supreme meditation is on the twin feet of the Blessed Lord, free from all duality.
पापिनां यानि पापानि महोपपदभांज्यपि
Whatever sins belong to sinners, even those bearing great consequences—
प्रमादादपि संस्पृष्टो यथाऽनलकणो दहेत्
If touched even accidentally, as a spark of fire burns, so are they consumed.
नितांतं कमलाकांते शांतचित्तं विधाय यः
Whoever, making his mind completely peaceful, is devoted to the beloved of Lakṣmī—
अयमेव परोधर्मस्त्विदमेव परं तपः
This alone is the highest dharma; this alone is the supreme austerity.
तवोपहारं भक्त्याय सेवते यजपूरुष 4.1.21.
Whoever serves you, O Lord of Sacrifice, with devotion as an offering—
स चैवावभृथस्नातः स च गंगाजलाप्लुतः
He is as if purified by the final bath of a sacrifice; he is as if bathed in the waters of the Gaṅgā.
शालग्राम शिला येन पूजिता तुलसी दलैः
Whoever worships the Śālagrāma stone with leaves of the Tulasī plant—
ब्राह्मणः क्षत्रियो वैश्यः शूद्रो वा यदि वेतरः
Whether a brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya, vaiśya, śūdra, or someone else—
शंखचक्रांकिततनुः शिरसां मंजरीधरः
With a body marked by the conch and discus, bearing a cluster of flowers on his head—
प्रत्यहं द्वादशशिलाः शालग्रामस्य योऽर्चयेत्
Whoever daily worships twelve Śālagrāma stones—
तुलसी यस्य भवने प्रत्यहं परिपूज्यते
In whose house the Tulasī is worshipped every day—
हरिनामाक्षरमुखं भाले गोपीमृदांकितम्
With the syllables of Hari’s name on his lips, and his forehead marked with the dust of the cowherd women—
गोपीमृत्तुलसी शंखः शालग्रामः सचक्रकः
Cowherd girls, clay, basil leaves, conch shells, and the Śālagrāma stone with the discus.
ये मुहूर्ताः क्षणा ये च या काष्ठा ये निमेषकाः
The moments, the instants, the divisions of time, and the twinklings of the eye—
