हिरण्यकशिपोर्वक्षो विदारण रणप्रिय 4.1.21.
O you who tore open the chest of Hiraṇyakaśipu, lover of battle.
नमस्ते धर्मरूपाय नमः सत्त्वगुणाय च
Salutations to you, who are the embodiment of Dharma, and to you who possess the quality of Sattva.
सहस्राक्ष सहस्रांघ्रे सहस्रकिरणाय च
To you with a thousand eyes, a thousand feet, and a thousand rays, salutations.
वेदवेद्यस्वरूपाय नमो वेदप्रियाय च
To you whose form is known through the Vedas, and who is dear to the Vedas, salutations.
वैकुंठाय नमस्तुभ्यं नमो वैकुंठवासिने
Salutations to you, O Vaikuṇṭha; salutations to you who dwell in Vaikuṇṭha.
विष्वक्सेन नमस्तुभ्यं जगन्मय जनार्दन
Salutations to you, Viṣvaksena, O Janārdana, who are the essence of the universe.
केशवाय नमस्तुभ्यं मायिने ब्रह्मागायिने
Salutations to you, Keśava, to the one of Māyā, and to the one sung by Brahmā.
स्तुत्याय स्तुतिरूपाय भक्तस्तुतिरताय च
To the one worthy of praise, whose form is praise, and who delights in the praises of devotees, salutations.
अंडजाय नमस्तुभ्यं स्वेदजाय नमोस्तु ते
Salutations to you, born from the egg; salutations to you, born from sweat.
देवानामिंद्ररूपोसि ग्रहाणामसि भानुमान्
You are the form of Indra among the gods; among the planets, you are the sun.
सुरापगाऽसि सरितां सरसां मानसं सरः 4.1.21.
You are the celestial river among rivers, and Mānasa lake among lakes.
धातूनां हाटकमसि स्फटिकश्चोपलेष्वसि
Among elements, you are gold; among stones, you are crystal.
सर्वपूज्यशिलानां वै शालग्राम शिला भवान्
Of all sacred stones worthy of worship, you are the Śālagrāma stone.
वर्णेषु श्वेतवर्णोऽसि द्विपदां ब्राह्मणो भवान्
Among the classes, you are of the white color; among humans, you are the brāhmaṇa.
वेदेषूपनिषद्रूपा मंत्राणां प्रणवोह्यसि
In the Vedas, you are the form of the Upaniṣads; among mantras, you are indeed the Praṇava (Oṃ).
प्रतापिनामग्निरसि क्षमाऽसि त्वं क्षमावताम्
Among the blazing ones, you are fire; among those who are patient, you are patience.
चापोसि सर्वशस्त्राणां वातो वेगवतामसि
You are water among all liquids; among swift ones, you are the wind.
व्योमव्याप्तिमतां त्वं वै परमात्माऽसि चात्मनाम्
Among those who pervade the sky, you are the one with all-pervasiveness; among souls, you are the Supreme Self.
क्रतूनामश्वमेधोसि दानानामभयं भवान्
Among sacrifices, you are the Aśvamedha; among gifts, you are fearlessness.
युगानां प्रथमोसि त्वं तिथीनां त्वं कुहूर्ह्यसि
Of the ages, you are the first; among lunar days, you are the Kuhu.
योगेषु व्यतिपातस्त्वं तृणेषु हि कुशो भवान् 4.1.21.
Among conjunctions, you are Vyatipāta; among grasses, you are Kuśa.
सर्वासामिह बुद्धीनां धर्मबुद्धिर्भवानज
Of all forms of understanding here, you are the understanding of righteousness, O unborn one.
प्राणायामोसि सर्वेपु साधनेषु शुचिष्वहो
Among all practices, you are prāṇāyāma; among pure acts, you are the offering.
मित्राणां हि कलत्रं त्वं धर्मस्त्वं सर्वबंधुषु
Among friends, you are the spouse; among all relatives, you are righteousness.
त्वमेव माता त्वं तातस्त्वं सुतस्त्वं महाधनम्
You alone are the mother, you are the father, you are the son, you are great wealth.
सा कथा यत्र ते नाम तन्मनो यत्त्वदर्पितम्
That is the story where your name is spoken, that is the mind which is offered to you.
तद्धनं धनिनां शुद्धं यत्त्वदर्थे व्ययीकृतम्
That is the pure wealth of the wealthy which is spent for your sake.
तावच्च जीवितं श्रेयो यावत्त्वं हृदि वर्तसे
Life is blessed only as long as you abide in the heart.
महापापानि गोविंद बहुजन्मार्जितान्यपि
Even great sins, O Govinda, accumulated over many births—
अहो पुंसां महामोहस्त्वहो पुंसां प्रमादता
Alas, what great delusion afflicts men! Alas, what heedlessness in men!
