पावन्यां कमलानद्यां प्रातर्विहितमज्जना
In the sacred Kamala river, she performed her morning bath.
दर्भाक्षततिलोन्मिश्रैर्गौरी श्रीनदिवारिभिः
With water mixed with darbha grass, rice, sesame, and the sacred Gauri river, she worshipped.
वालुकामंडले सूर्यमावाह्याभ्यर्च्य पंकजैः
In a circle of sand, she invoked the Sun and worshipped him with lotuses.
स्वयमेव प्रतिष्ठाप्य लिंगं किमपि शंकरम्
She herself established a certain Shankara-linga.
आसनेन च मूर्त्या च मूलेनांगैश्च सा रविम् 1.3.2.18.
With seat, image, root, and limbs, she worshipped the Sun.
तत्तद्दिक्षु च सोमादीन्ग्रहान्धेन्वादिमुद्रया

भूतशुद्धिं विधायान्वगंतर्यागं चकार सा
Having performed purification of the elements, she undertook the internal worship.
शक्तीर्दलेषु वामादीर्दलाग्रे सूर्यवेधसौ
She placed the energies—beginning with the left—on the petals, and at the tip of the petals, the solar and lunar penetrations.
तदूर्ध्वे शक्तिचक्रं च विन्यस्तब्रह्मपंचका
Above that, she established the circle of energies and the fivefold Brahma.
प्रादाच्चंदनपुष्पादि धूपदीपप्रदायिनी
She offered sandalwood, flowers, and other items, as well as incense and lamps.
तत्तद्दिक्षु च शक्रादीन्वज्रादींश्च विधानतः
In each direction, she ritually invoked Indra and others, as well as the vajra-bearing deities.
पंचवक्त्राणि चाभ्यर्च्य कृतचंडेश्वरार्चना

नीवारबीजदानेन सा मृगानप्यपोषयत्
By giving nīvāra rice seeds, she nourished even the animals.
कृतालवालसलिलैः सुवालाकलशाहृतैः
With water from the ālavāla fruits, drawn in beautiful pitchers, she performed ablutions.
प्रदक्षिणां कृतवती शोणशैलं गिरींद्रजा
The daughter of the mountain made a circumambulation of the Śoṇa mountain.
पंचाक्षरी जजापैषा शिवस्तोत्राण्युदैरयत्
She recited the five-syllable mantra and uttered hymns to Śiva.
अनुदिनमरुणाचलेश्वरं सा प्रणतवती विहितप्रदक्षिणाद्यैः
Every day, she bowed to the Lord of the Aruṇācala mountain, performing circumambulation and other rites.
अवज्ञातसुरारातिर्विध्वंसितपुरंदरः
The enemy of the gods, disregarded, had destroyed the city of Indra.
सर्वलोकजयी सिद्धविद्याधरभयावहः
He who conquers all worlds, a terror even to Siddhas and Vidyadharas.
तीक्ष्णानामपि शापानामप्यगोचरतां गतः
He became unreachable even to the fiercest of curses.
दूषको मुनिपत्नीनां धर्ममार्गोपघातकः
He corrupted the wives of sages and obstructed the path of righteousness.
हिरण्यकशिपोर्वश्यो हिरण्याक्ष इवापरः
He was the servant of Hiranyakashipu, another like Hiranyaksha.
ततः सा तापसीवेषधारिणी गिरिजां प्रति
Then, assuming the guise of an ascetic woman, she approached Girija.
अरारु भीषणे भीरो निवसस्यत्र किं वने
She said: 'O timid one, why do you dwell here in this dreadful forest?'
