विदारयास्य मूर्धानं करपत्रेण दारुवत् 4.1.8.
Tear open his head with a sharp-edged plate, as if it were wood.
परदारप्रसृमरं करं छिंध्यस्य पापिनः
Cut off the hand of this sinner that has reached out to another’s wife.
सूचीभी रोमकूपेषु तनुं व्यधिहि सर्वतः
Pierce his body everywhere with needles into the pores of his hair.
परदारमुखाघ्रातुर्मुखे निष्ठीवयास्य हि
Spit into the mouth of him who smells at another man's wife.
भर्जयैनं चणकवत्तप्तवालुक कर्परैः
Roast him like chickpeas with hot sand and potsherds.
दोषारोपं सदाकर्तुरदोषे क्रूरलोचन
O fierce-eyed one, always assign blame to him who falsely accuses others.
अदत्तपरवस्तूनां गृह्णतः करपल्लवम्
Seize the hand of him who takes what belongs to others without permission.
अपवादं गुरोर्वक्तुर्निंदाकर्तुः सुपर्वणाम्
Punish the one who slanders his teacher or speaks ill of the virtuous.
परमर्म स्पृशश्चास्य परच्छिद्रप्रकाशितुः
Touch the vital spots of him who exposes the faults of others.
अन्ये न दीयमाने स्वे निषेद्धुःपापकारिणः
Others who do evil and refuse to give what is theirs when asked—
देवस्वभोक्तुः क्रोडास्य ब्राह्मणस्वस्यभोजिनः 4.1.8.
The one who enjoys the property of the gods, or eats what belongs to a Brahmin—
न देवार्थे न विप्रार्थे नातिथ्यर्थे पचेत्क्वचित्
Let him never cook for the sake of the gods, Brahmins, or guests at any time.
उग्रास्य शिशुहंतारममुं विश्रंभघातिनम्
O destroyer, the one with a fierce mouth who kills children or betrays trust—
ब्रह्मघ्नं चांधतामिस्रे सुरापं पूयशोणिते
The slayer of a Brahmin, the drinker of wine, the eater of pus and blood, in utter darkness—
तत्संसर्गिणमावर्षमसिपत्रवने तथा
And the one who associates with them, let him remain for a year in the forest of sword-leaves.
आप्लुत्याप्लुत्य दुर्दंष्ट्रकाकोलैर्लोहतुंडकैः
Having plunged and plunged again, let him be torn by jackals with terrible fangs and iron beaks.
स्त्रीघ्नं गोघ्नं च मित्रघ्नं कूटशाल्मलिपादपे
The slayer of a woman, a cow, or a friend, let him be bound to the false Śālmalī tree.
त्वचमस्य च संदंशैस्त्रोटय त्वं महाभुज
O mighty-armed one, tear his skin with iron pincers.
ज्वालाकीले महाघोरे नरकेऽमुं नि पातय
Cast him down into the dreadful hell impaled on a fiery stake.
कालकूटे च गरदं कूटसाक्ष्याभिवादिनम्
In the Kālakūṭa hell, give poison to the one who gives false testimony.
लालापिबेच दुष्प्रेक्ष्य तीर्थासुष्ठीविनं(?) नय 4.1.8.
Lead away the one who spits saliva, who is difficult to look at, and who spits in holy places.
रसविक्रयिणं विप्रमिक्षुयंत्रे प्रपीडय
Oppress the Brahmin who sells liquor and who uses a device for extracting liquor.
गोतिलांश्च तुरंगांश्च विक्रेतारं द्विजाधमम्
The lowest of twice-born who sells cows, sesame seeds, or horses—
मुसलोलूखले वैश्यं कंडयैनं पुनःपुनः
And the merchant who uses pestle and mortar—strike him again and again.
अधोमुखे च नरके दीर्घग्रीवप्रपीड्य
Press him down in a hell where his neck is stretched downward.
शूद्रं ब्राह्मणजेतारं वैश्यं बाह्मणमानिनम्
The Śūdra who overcomes a Brahmin, and the Vaiśya who pretends to be a Brahmin—
लाक्षालवणमांसानां सतैलविषसर्पिषाम्
Those who deal in lac, salt, meat, oil, poison, or ghee—
पाशपाणेकशापाणे बद्ध्वैतांश्चरणेदृढम्
Bind these with ropes or shackles, tying them firmly by the feet.
इमां स्त्रियं श्लेषयाशु पुंश्चलीं कुलकल्मषाम्
Quickly afflict this woman, the adulteress, who brings disgrace to her family.
स्वयं गृहीत्वा नियमं यस्त्यजेदजितेंद्रियः
He who, having taken a vow himself, abandons it due to uncontrolled senses—
