अयं शोणगिरेः पादः प्रवालाचलनामवान्
This is the foot of Mount Shona, known by the name Pravala Mountain.
तत एवाहमत्रैव प्रतिष्ठाप्य त्रिलोचनम्

ममाश्रमसमीपेऽस्मिन्पुण्यक्षेत्रमिदं महत्
Near my hermitage, this is a great and holy field.
मुनेरेवमनुज्ञानात्कृताश्रमपरिग्रहा
With the sage's permission, the hermitage was accepted.
आश्रमं रक्षितुं सत्यवतीं काननवासिनीम् 1.3.2.18.
To protect the hermitage, Satyavati, who dwelled in the forest, was appointed.
तपोवनस्य सर्वस्य रक्षार्थं सा समादिशत्
For the protection of the entire sacred grove, she was instructed accordingly.
अनंतरं सा धम्मिल्लं मंदारप्रसवोचितम्
Immediately after, she bound her hair in a knot adorned with mandara flowers.
हंसचिह्नदशं हित्वा दुकूलं मिहकालघु
She set aside her fine garment, marked with the emblem of a swan, light as mist.
अपि प्रसूनावचयनिस्सहांगुलिपल्लवा
Her tender fingers were unable even to pluck flowers.
वज्रसूचिनिर्भरांगैरवच्छिन्नानि कंटकैः
Her limbs, delicate as a diamond needle, were scratched by thorns.
पावन्यां कमलानद्यां प्रातर्विहितमज्जना
In the sacred Kamala river, she performed her morning bath.
दर्भाक्षततिलोन्मिश्रैर्गौरी श्रीनदिवारिभिः
With water mixed with darbha grass, rice, sesame, and the sacred Gauri river, she worshipped.
वालुकामंडले सूर्यमावाह्याभ्यर्च्य पंकजैः
In a circle of sand, she invoked the Sun and worshipped him with lotuses.
स्वयमेव प्रतिष्ठाप्य लिंगं किमपि शंकरम्
She herself established a certain Shankara-linga.
आसनेन च मूर्त्या च मूलेनांगैश्च सा रविम् 1.3.2.18.
With seat, image, root, and limbs, she worshipped the Sun.
तत्तद्दिक्षु च सोमादीन्ग्रहान्धेन्वादिमुद्रया
In every direction, she worshipped the planets, beginning with Soma, using the gesture of the cow and others.
अर्घेणातीव शुद्धेन संप्रोक्ष्य च समंततः
She sprinkled everything with exceedingly pure water for the ritual offering.
भूतशुद्धिं विधायान्वगंतर्यागं चकार सा
Having performed purification of the elements, she undertook the internal worship.
शक्तीर्दलेषु वामादीर्दलाग्रे सूर्यवेधसौ
She placed the energies—beginning with the left—on the petals, and at the tip of the petals, the solar and lunar penetrations.
तदूर्ध्वे शक्तिचक्रं च विन्यस्तब्रह्मपंचका
Above that, she established the circle of energies and the fivefold Brahma.
प्रादाच्चंदनपुष्पादि धूपदीपप्रदायिनी
She offered sandalwood, flowers, and other items, as well as incense and lamps.
तत्तद्दिक्षु च शक्रादीन्वज्रादींश्च विधानतः
In each direction, she ritually invoked Indra and others, as well as the vajra-bearing deities.
पंचवक्त्राणि चाभ्यर्च्य कृतचंडेश्वरार्चना
She worshipped the five-faced forms and performed the ritual for Caṇḍeśvara.
शिवागमोक्तविधिना द्रव्यैः सौभाग्यदायिभिः
According to the procedures prescribed in the Śiva scriptures, with auspicious substances.
परिकल्पितोपचारा च कंदमूलफलादिकैः 1.3.2.18.
She arranged the offerings, including tubers, roots, fruits, and similar items.
अंगुष्ठाग्रेण तिष्ठंती ग्रीष्ये पंचाग्निमध्यतः
Standing on the tip of her thumb, she endured the heat in the midst of five fires.
वर्षरात्रीषु धाराभिः सह वारिधरा पुनः
During the rainy nights, she remained with streams of water, together with the clouds.
पाणिपादेन पद्मानि मुखेन च कलानिधिम्
With her hands and feet she made lotuses, and with her mouth, she praised the moon.
नीवारबीजदानेन सा मृगानप्यपोषयत्
By giving nīvāra rice seeds, she nourished even the animals.
कृतालवालसलिलैः सुवालाकलशाहृतैः
With water from the ālavāla fruits, drawn in beautiful pitchers, she performed ablutions.
