तदैषा क्वापि यास्यामि किमत्रास्त्येकया मम

निमीलिताक्षिण्येवास्य गंतव्यं निभृतं मया

Calavati, Malyavati, Malini, Vijaya, and Jaya—
तत्र सापि गिरीन्पुण्यान्वनानि नगराणि च 1.3.2.18.
There, she wandered through sacred mountains, forests, and cities.
भ्रमंती सह्यपादेषु द्राविडाख्ये सुनीवृति
Roaming at the foot of the Sahya mountains, in the region called Dravida, with good retreat.
दृश्योऽयं नातिदूरेण पुरस्तात्सकलारुणः
Behold, not far ahead, all is radiant and red.
उपत्यकासु चैतस्य दृश्यंते तापसाश्रमाः
In its valleys, the hermitages of ascetics are seen.
गत्वा निरूपयामस्तानिमान्पुण्याश्रमान्वयम्
Let us go and observe these holy hermitages.
एवमाह्रादयत्यालि क्रमेण गिरिनंदिनी
In this way, O friend, the daughter of the mountain gradually delighted his heart.
लूतास्तंतून्नयंत्यत्र कुम्भीराः शैवलान्यपि
Here, lizards draw out threads, crocodiles carry away even the waterweeds.
हरंत्यवकरान्वालैश्चमराः स्फीतरोमभिः
Camara antelopes with thick hair remove the refuse with their tails.
वानराः फलपुष्पाणि मधुपत्राणि भल्लुकाः
Monkeys take the fruits and flowers, and bears the honey-laden leaves.
काकोलूकैः शुकश्येनैर्मृगव्याघ्रैर्हरिद्विपैः
With cuckoos, owls, parrots, hawks, deer, tigers, and green elephants.
हूयमानपुराडाशद्रव्यसौरभ्यहारिणी 1.3.2.18.

पठंति शतरुद्रीयं यत्र वायसवैरिणः

क्वचिच्च शोभने देशे पुण्ये पुण्यमनोहरे

अधस्तात्सप्तपर्णस्य चित्रव्याघ्रत्वगासने
Beneath the seven-leaved tree, seated on a variegated tiger skin,
शालिशूकारुणाभाभिर्जटाभिर्भस्मपांडुरम्
With matted locks tinged red like rice stalks, his body pale with ash,
नासाग्रनिश्चलदृशं समप्रस्फुरिताधरम्
His gaze fixed at the tip of his nose, his lips gently parted,
प्रत्यग्रनिर्णेजनतो ह्यंत्यश्यानदशांचले
Absorbed in inner contemplation, at the edge of the final state of sleep,
षड्वर्गहिंस्रबंधाय स्थापितां वागुरामिव कृतोचितोपचारा सा तमप्राक्षीत्तपोधनम्
Like a snare set for the destruction of the sixfold enemies, she, having performed the proper rites, approached that ascetic.
स चाहारुणशैलोऽयं पुण्यक्षेत्रेषु पूजितः 1.3.2.18.
And this Aruṇa mountain is revered in holy regions.
