Droṇa will destroy a division in ten days, and Drauni in battle likewise.
Therefore I ask about my own side as well: by whom, and at what time, will they be slain?
This, O Yudhiṣṭhira, which was promised by Bhīṣma and the others, is not appropriate.
And the kings who are with you, armed and standing ready for battle—
—Drupada, Virāṭa, Dhṛṣṭaketu, and the king of the Kaikeyas—
—Dhṛṣṭadyumna and his son, and the mighty Ghaṭotkaca—
I think that even one among these could destroy the Kaurava army.
There is no need to fear them; these Phalguvas are like deer.
Now, O Bhārata, by the sounds of our bows—
—from the aged Bhīṣma, from the venerable Droṇa, and even from Kṛpa—
Or, O Bhārata, if you wish to know for the satisfaction of your mind—
Let me alone in battle; let all your chariots stand aside.
Hearing these words of Arjuna, Dāmodara smiled and spoke.
Then conches and drums and hundreds of kettledrums were sounded.
By whom the secret field was scorched, by whom the goddesses were pleased—
What I say is true—listen to it, O kings of men.
What was vowed by the noble Arjuna, the great-souled one—
Let all remain, with Arjuna and Keśava among them.
While I stand here, no Kṣatriya should take up weapons.
Behold the strength of my arms, born from the worship of the goddess.
Behold my terrible bow, and also my inexhaustible quivers.
Hearing these words of his, the Kṣatriyas were filled with wonder.
Then Kṛṣṇa spoke these supreme words gently to Phālguna.
By him, in former times, a Palāśī with ninety million was slain.
Again I will ask him, by what means can the Kauravas be defeated?
Then, remembering, the lord of the Yadavas spoke to the son of Bhima.
By Bhīma, Madra, Droṇa, Kṛpa, Drauṇi, Karṇa, Duryodhana, and others—
This is a great wonder for you, O delight of Bhīma, these words.
Tell me, by what means can the Kauravas be destroyed in a moment?
With a lion-like chest, mountain-like form, adorned with various ornaments,
