एवमुक्त्वा गताः सर्वे देवा देव्यस्त्वदृश्यताम्
Having spoken thus, all the gods and goddesses departed from your sight.
विस्मिताः पांडवास्तं च पूजयित्वा पुनः पुनः
Astonished, the Pandavas worshipped him again and again.
भीमोपि यत्र रुद्रेण मोक्षितस्तत्र सुप्रभम्
Even Bhima was liberated there by Rudra; thus, it shines greatly.
ज्येष्ठमासे कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्दश्यामुपोषितः
In the month of Jyeshtha, during the dark fortnight, on the fourteenth day, having fasted,
यथैव लिंगानि सुपूजितानि सप्तात्र मुख्यानि महाफलानि
Just as the seven principal lingas here are worshipped excellently, they yield great fruits.
युधिष्ठिरो महातेजा गमनायोपचक्रमे
Yudhishthira, endowed with great brilliance, began his journey.
प्रभाते विमले स्नात्वा देवीर्लिंगान्यथार्च्य च प्रयाणकालेषु सदा जप्यं कृष्णेन कीर्तितम्
At dawn, in purity, having bathed and worshipped the divine lingas as prescribed, at the time of departure, one should always recite the prayer praised by Krishna.
नत्वा त्वां शरणं यामि मनोवाक्कायकर्मभिः
Having bowed to you, I seek refuge in you through mind, speech, body, and actions.
संकर्षणाभयदाने कृष्णच्छविसमप्रभे
O giver of fearlessness like Sankarshana, whose radiance equals Krishna's hue,
त्वया ततमिदं विश्वं जगदव्यक्तरूपया
By you, this entire universe is pervaded, O Lord, in your unmanifest form.
कार्यारम्भेषु सर्वेषु सानुगेन मया तव
In all undertakings, with my companions, I act for you.
वायुपुत्रः प्रहस्यैव सासूयमिदमब्रवीत्
The son of the wind, laughing with jealousy, spoke these words.
ये त्वां राजन्वदंत्येवं सर्वज्ञोऽयं युधिष्ठिरः
Those who speak of you thus, O king, say, 'Yudhishthira is omniscient.'
को हि प्रज्ञावतां मुख्यः सर्वशास्त्रविदांवरः
Who indeed is foremost among the wise, the best among those who know all scriptures?
यतस्त्वमेव वेत्सीदं सर्वशास्त्रेषु कीर्त्यते 1.2.65.
Because you alone know this, you are praised in all the scriptures.
सचेतनं च पुरुषं प्रकृतिं च विचेतनाम्
The conscious person and nature, which is unconscious,
तत्स्वयं पुरुषो भूत्वा युधिष्ठिर वृथामते
Thus, becoming the person himself, O Yudhishthira, with vain understanding,
आरोहयेच्छिरो नैव क्वचिद्धित्वा उपानहौ
He should never place his head anywhere without removing his footwear.
यदि ते बन्दिवत्पार्थ तिष्ठेद्वाण्यनिवारिता
If, O Partha, your speech stands as if bound, restrained by others,
अलक्ष्यमिति वा मत्वा महेशानं महामते
Or, considering the great Lord as unperceived, O wise one,
यस्य प्रसादादस्माभिः प्राप्ता द्रुपदनंदिनी
By whose grace we obtained the daughter of Drupada.
विजयेन धनुर्लब्धं जरासन्धो मया हतः
Through victory, the bow was gained; Jarasandha was slain by me.
यस्य प्रसादात्तं मुक्त्वा कृष्णं हा स्तौषि यज्जयी
By whose favor, except for Krishna, you praise the one who is victorious.
जानन्नात्मानमल्पत्वाद्बुद्धेर्न स्तौषि यादवम्
Knowing your own insignificance and lack of wisdom, you do not praise the Yadava.
येन विद्धं पुरा लक्ष्यं येन कर्णादयो जिताः 1.2.65.
By whom the target was pierced long ago, by whom Karna and others were defeated.
श्रूयते येन विक्रम्य महेशानोऽपि निर्जितः
It is heard that even the great lord Maheshvara was conquered by him, having displayed valor.
अथवा तेन शक्रेण राज्यं मे नार्पितं कुतः
Or else, why did that Indra not grant me the kingdom?
ततो मां वा कथं वीरं न स्तौषि त्वं युधिष्ठिर
Then why do you not praise me, a hero, in battle, O Yudhishthira?
वृक्षेणाहत्य मद्रेशो नदीं शुष्कां प्रसारितः
The king of Madra, having struck with a tree, dried up the river.
पूर्वा दिङ्निर्जिता येन येन पूर्वं बको हतः
By whom the eastern direction was conquered, by whom the demon Baka was slain before.
