Thus, as Vṛkodara was washing his feet there—
O fool of wicked mind, what is this you are doing, intent on sin?
For this water is always used by me to bathe the goddess.
Water defiled by dirt is considered untouchable even by men.
Quickly leave this pond and drink outside.
For the waters are indeed meant for the use of living beings.
Even the great sages have said that bathing is to be performed at holy places.
If one does not wash the limbs before drinking—
But if one sits among moving beings, and remains outside among immobile things,
even if one sits among immobile things, that is not considered a bath.
And whatever is beyond a hundred hand-lengths, there a lake is prescribed.
Therefore, bathing must be performed there; otherwise, it is said to be a fault.
Filth, urine, feces, phlegm, spittle, and tears—
Therefore, if you are unable to control your senses, quickly go out.
He whose hands, feet, and mind are well restrained—
Hunger and thirst, by me, cannot always be restrained.
Have you not heard the verse spoken by Śibi?
A man may live even for a moment by righteous action.
Here, I will drink water as I wish; complain or dry up as you please.
Therefore, I will never allow you to commit a sin.
So, wretch, quickly get out from this pool.
Otherwise, I will swiftly crush your head with brick fragments.
Then Bhīma, having deceived her, leapt out and came outside.
He fought with Pralamba, both skilled in battle, with their arms.
They struck each other with fists, blows from the heels, and knees.
Then Bhīma, being overpowered, rose up again and again.
Then Barbarika, with great strength, seized Bhima as if uprooting him.
Taking him, unconscious and repeatedly convulsing,
