As he worshipped, the goddesses were satisfied within three years.
The strength that is unattainable for anyone in the three worlds,
By association with victory, you will attain even greater excellence.
Then came a brāhmaṇa named Vijaya from Magadha.
Having gained the power of knowledge in Kāśī, he came for the purpose of accomplishment.
He worshipped the goddesses for a long time to obtain the fruits of knowledge.
Attain the knowledge, O noble one, in the presence of the accomplished Mother.
Then, having heard those words, Vijaya, in the midst of a dream—
Hearing the goddess's words, he considered them a call for assistance.
After bathing, he worshipped the liṅgas and then separately worshipped the goddesses.
On the first night thereafter, he went to Siddhāmbikāpura.
He buried eight pegs, each with a cord, in the eight directions.
Binding his hair in a topknot and performing the directional binding, he then proceeded with the rite.
Then, having consecrated a khadira sword with mantra-power, he offered it.
Pure and sleepless, he stood, reciting hymns to the goddess.
As this was being done, the mighty Barbarīka was present there.
Then, having assumed a comfortable seat, he bowed to the Gumguras, saying 'Salutations,' and began the rite of the Lord of Gaṇas.
Now, therefore, I shall declare the supreme mantra of Gaṇapati.
It is brief, accomplishes all aims, is of great value, and grants all attainments.
'Oṃ gāṃ gīṃ gūṃ gaiṃ gauṃ gaḥ'—this seven-syllabled great mantra, first with 'sādha kasya' and the making of a tilaka; upon the tilaka, one should place unbroken rice with this mantra—this is the tilaka-mantra. With this mantra, one should offer three handfuls of flowers to Gaṇeśa. Thereafter, one should recite the root mantra. With the mantra 'Oṃ gāṃ gaṇapataye svāhā,' one should perform homa with guggulu pellets and make the appropriate dedication. This is the Gaṇeśvara rite. All obstacles are destroyed and one's desired aims are accomplished.
Ḍākinīs, yātudhānas, pretas, and other terrifying beings—
Knowing this Gaṇeśvara rite, even victory is attained.
By offering a tenth part of the pellets in the fire and worshipping Siddhivināyaka—
Thus, in the glorious Skanda Mahāpurāṇa, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse collection, in the first Māheśvara section, in the Kaumārikā section, in the accomplishment of the great vidyā, is the sixty-first chapter named 'Description of the Gaṇeśvara Rite.'
How was Kṣetranātha born? Tell this to us who are listening.
Having bowed to Śiva, who was seated with the goddess, they spoke as follows.
O gods, by that terrible Daitya, unconquerable by gods and asuras,
Not by Viṣṇu, not by the Moon, nor by anyone else at all—
As we are oppressed by him, become our refuge.
Then, overwhelmed by great compassion, Kālikā of the dark throat—
