'Oṃ gāṃ gīṃ gūṃ gaiṃ gauṃ gaḥ'—this seven-syllabled great mantra, first with 'sādha kasya' and the making of a tilaka; upon the tilaka, one should place unbroken rice with this mantra—this is the tilaka-mantra. With this mantra, one should offer three handfuls of flowers to Gaṇeśa. Thereafter, one should recite the root mantra. With the mantra 'Oṃ gāṃ gaṇapataye svāhā,' one should perform homa with guggulu pellets and make the appropriate dedication. This is the Gaṇeśvara rite. All obstacles are destroyed and one's desired aims are accomplished.
