One who knows the truth of the path of the Self, who is patient, capable, and has mastered the senses,

Who possesses brilliance, fame, intelligence, discernment, and humility,
Who has a gentle nature, pleasant appearance, eats well, conducts himself properly, and is virtuous,

Such a one, endowed with all virtues, skillful, pure, and fearless,
O King, I recite this hymn of Nārada always.
Anyone else, becoming pure, who recites this praise daily,
Having heard these qualities of Nārada, O King,
He became supremely pleased and acted according to those words.

Then he honored Nārada and gave abundant gifts.

In the same way, O Kauravya, you too should hear these virtues of Narada.
On the twelfth day of the bright half of Kartika, known as Prabodhini, that sage—
On that day, in a small well made here by Narada himself—
Austerity, charity, and recitation performed here at the well become inexhaustible.
With the mantra 'This is Vishnu,' one should then awaken Vishnu.
Just as Yoga-nidra was abandoned by Hari, O best of sages—
By uttering this mantra and awakening him, one should then worship Narada.
According to one's ability, one should give to the twice-born a parasol, garment, and water-pot.
By doing so, through the sage's grace, one is freed from sin.
He honored Narada with devotion, astonished and filled with joy.
Having praised him for a long time, he again spoke to Narada.
