Whenever the Brahmins are afflicted by anyone,
In the third watch, having recited the Sāma hymns in the Tāra tone,
Within seven days, or in the middle of the year, or after three years, he becomes ashes.
By that truth, let our enemy become ashes in an instant.
Whoever sees the hall of the three gods there day by day,
Thus is the greatness of the hall of the three gods. Narada said: Now I shall speak of another, the greatness of my own lake.
O Partha, the greatness here is incomparable, and even the gods find it difficult to attain.
The clay, placed in a copper vessel, was then set aside outside by itself.
That clay was thrown into the lake, and by it the lake was filled.
Whoever performs a śrāddha there, having bathed, and especially gives gifts,
This lake is known as Nārada's, famed across the earth.
Whatever charity is given here, and whatever is offered into the fire,
Whoever bathes in the best of lakes, Nārada's, and delights in Nārada's region,
O Partha, in this holy place, all the nāgas once performed austerities.
Then, through the power of this place, they attained the highest accomplishment.
North of Nārada, all the nāgas became joyful.
With great devotion, they worshipped Nāgeśvara, whose merit is endless.
Thus is the greatness of Nārada's lake. Nārada said: O Pāṇḍava, here too is the goddess called Aparadvārakā.
She always dwells at the gate of the cosmic egg.
After performing long austerities, I brought her here, pleased.
She was established at the former city gate, as the guardian of the entrance.
After bathing in the pond, a person should worship that goddess.
Sin accumulated over seven births is destroyed instantly.
A barren woman obtains a son merely by bathing there.
The goddess removes obstacles and grants all success.
In the same way, a man should worship at the northern gate, following the prescribed rite.
At the eastern gate, the goddess known as Dvāravāsinī is established.
When the month of Āśvina arrives, especially during the nine nights,
One should worship the goddess with devotion, offering flowers, incense, food, and libations.
A barren woman gives birth, O Pārtha; there is no need for doubt in this.
