यद्वा न पश्यति तदाप्यस्मि साम्यमुपेयिवान्
Even when one does not perceive, one has attained equality with me.
त्वयैव परिहार्यत्वमिदानीं समुपागतम्
Now, the responsibility for avoidance has come to you alone.
गिरमेकामिमामग्रे चक्रपाणेरुदीरय
Speak this single statement before the wielder of the discus.
अत्युच्चं दृष्टवानग्रमत्र साक्ष्ये स्थितोऽस्म्यहम्
I have seen the highest point; here I stand as witness.
संभावितोयं सुतरां पित्रेव हि पितामहः
This one is greatly honored, just as a father by his grandfather.
इत्युक्त्वा मम साहाय्यं सुमहत्क्रियतां त्वया ।। 1.3.2.13.
Having said this, let my great assistance be rendered by you.
तेजःस्तंभाभ्यर्णभाजे तथैव प्राहाशेषं विष्णवे ब्रह्मवाक्यम्
To Vishnu, who dwells in the brilliance and the summit, Brahma spoke the remaining words.
नाग्रं दृष्टमनेनेति निश्चिकाय विवेकवान्
He, discerning, concluded that the summit had not been seen by him.
अनुग्रहीतुं मां मुग्धं हंतुं चास्य विधेर्मदम्
To show me favor in my ignorance, and to destroy the pride of this fate.
मूलसंदर्शनाशक्त्या तेजःस्तंम्भस्य मे मदः
By the inability to perceive the root, the pride of my brilliance was checked.
स्तूयते वीतगर्वत्वात्स इदानीं महेश्वरः
Now, Maheshvara is praised, free from arrogance.
अद्याप्यवीतगर्वत्वाल्लब्ध्वासौ कूटसाक्षिणम्
Even now, due to unvanquished pride, he has obtained a false witness.
तदद्य सकलस्यापि दुःखस्यापनये क्षमः
Today, he is able to remove all suffering.
तथा कृतापराधस्य कृतघ्नस्य गुरुद्रुहः
Thus, for one who has committed offense, who is ungrateful, who betrays the teacher.
जय प्रभाकराकार जयामृतकराकृते
Victory to you, whose form is like the sun; victory to you, whose form is like the nectar-hand.
जय वैश्वानराकार जय गन्धवहाकृते
Victory to you, whose form is like the universal fire; victory to you, whose form is like the wind-bearer.
रक्ष मां त्रिगुणातीत रक्ष मां कालविग्रह 1.3.2.14.
Protect me, transcending the three qualities; protect me, embodiment of time.
स्रष्टा त्वं सर्वजगतां रक्षिता सर्वदेहिनाम्
You are the creator of all worlds, the protector of all embodied beings.
अणूनामप्यणीयांस्त्वं महांस्त्वं महतामपि
You are subtler than the subtlest, and greater than the greatest.
निगमास्तव निश्वासा विश्वं ते शिल्पवैभवम्
The Vedas are your very breath; the universe is the splendor of your artistry.
अमरा दानवा दैत्याः सिद्धा विद्याधरा नराः
The immortals, the Dānavas, the Daityas, the Siddhas, the Vidyādharas, and humans—
स्वर्गस्त्वमपवर्गस्त्वं त्वमोंकारस्त्वमध्वरः
You are heaven, you are liberation; you are Om, you are the sacrifice.
त्वमादिर्मध्यमंतश्च तस्थुषां जग्मुषामपि
You are the beginning, the middle, and the end of all that stands and all that moves.
परेशः परतः शास्ता सर्वानुग्राहकः शिवः
You are the supreme Lord, the transcendent teacher, the universal benefactor, the auspicious one.
यं दृष्ट्वा शरणं प्राप्तो निःश्रेयसमवाप्नुयात्
Seeing you, one who seeks refuge attains the highest good.
तच्छ्रुत्वैष कृपां कुर्यादवश्यं सर्वतः श्रुतिः
Hearing this, the Veda itself must surely show compassion everywhere.
तमेव तैजसं स्तंभं प्रणम्य परमेश्वरम् हठात्तेन विरंचेन वार्यमाणोपि सस्मितम् ।। 1.3.2.14.
Having bowed to that very radiant pillar, the Supreme Lord, Brahmā, though restrained, smilingly persisted by force.
कालांतक क्रतुध्वंसिन्नीलकंठेंदुशेखर
O destroyer of Time, destroyer of sacrifices, blue-throated one, moon-crested one,
जय शंभो शिवेशान शर्व त्र्यंबक धूर्जटे
Victory to you, Śambhu, Śiva, Īśāna, Śarva, Three-eyed one, matted-haired one!
जयेश खंडपरशो शूलिन्पशुपते हर
Victory to you, Lord of victory, wielder of the broken axe, trident-bearer, Lord of beasts, Hara!
