नंदभद्रो ऽप्यथान्यस्यां भार्यायामपरान्सुतान् ४६.
Nandabhadra, too, in another wife, had other sons.
रुद्रदेहं ययौ पार्थ पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम् ४६.
He attained the body of Rudra, O Partha, which is difficult to return from.
अस्य तीरे स्वमंशं च वल्लीनाथः प्रमेक्ष्यति ४६.
On this shore, Vallīnatha will see his own portion.
अर्चयित्वा च तं देवं योगसिद्धिमवाप्नुयात् ४६.
And having worshipped that god, one attains perfection in yoga.
पश्चिमायां बुधसुतस्तथा क्षेत्रं स भारत ४६.
In the west, O Bhārata, the son of Budha likewise possesses that field.
सर्वकामप्रदश्चासौ भट्टदित्यसमो रिवः ४६.
He grants all desires and is equal to Bhaṭṭāditya, O Riva.
अस्य तीर्थस्य माहात्म्यं जप्तव्यं कर्णमूलके ४६.
The greatness of this sacred place should be recited quietly into the ear.
श्रृणोतीदं श्रद्धया यस्तस्य तुष्येश्च भास्करः ४६.
Whoever listens to this with faith, to him the Sun is pleased.
समाराध्य यथा देव्यः स्थापितास्तच्छृणुष्व भोः
Hear now, O one addressed, how the goddesses were duly worshipped and established.
यथात्मा सर्वभूतेषु व्यापकः परमेश्वरः
Just as the Supreme Lord, pervading all beings, is the true Self,
शक्ति प्रसादादाप्नोति वीर्यं सर्वाश्च संपदः
By the grace of the Power (Śakti), one obtains strength and all forms of prosperity.
बुद्धिह्रीपुष्टिलज्जेति तुष्टिः शांतिः क्षमा स्पृहा
Intellect, modesty, nourishment, shame, satisfaction, peace, forbearance, and desire—
इयमेव च बंधाय मोक्षायेयं च सर्वदा
This alone is always the cause of bondage, and this alone is always for liberation.
ये च शक्तिं न मन्यंते तिरस्कुर्वंति चाधमाः
And those lowly ones who do not honor the Power and disregard her—
वाराणस्यां किल पुरा सिद्धयोगीश्वराः पुनः
Long ago, indeed, in Varanasi, the perfected lords of yoga again—
तस्मात्सदा देहिनेयं शक्तिः पूज्यैव नित्यदा
Therefore, this Power should always be worshipped by embodied beings at all times.
परमा प्रकृतिः सा च बहुभेदैर्व्यवस्थिता
She is the supreme Nature, established in many forms.
चतस्रस्तु महाशक्त्यश्चतुर्दिक्षु व्यवस्थिताः 1.2.47.
And four great Powers are established in the four directions.
जगदादौ मूलूप्रकृतेरुत्पन्ना सा प्रकीर्त्यते
At the beginning of the world, she is said to have arisen from the root Nature.
दक्षिणस्यां तथा तारा संस्थिता स्थापिता मया
In the southern direction, likewise, Tārā is established, set there by me.
ययाविष्टः समुज्जह्रे वेदान्कूर्मो जगद्गुरुः
Possessed by her, the Lord of the World, as the Tortoise, raised up the Vedas.
कोटिशो वेदमार्गस्य ध्वंसकान्पापकर्मिणः
Countless destroyers of the path of the Vedas, doers of evil deeds—
कोटिसंख्याभिरत्युग्रदेवीभिः संवृता च सा
She is surrounded by goddesses of exceedingly fierce power, numbering in the tens of millions.
पश्चिमायां तथा देवी संस्थिता भास्करा शुभा
In the western direction, likewise, the auspicious goddess Bhāskarā is established.
बिंबानि सर्वताराणां गच्छन्त्यायांति च द्रुतम्
The orbs of all the stars swiftly depart and return.
मयाराध्य समानीता कटाहादत्र संस्थिता
Having been worshipped by me, they were brought here and are established in the cauldron.
उत्तरस्यां तथा देवी संस्थिता योगनंदिनी
In the north as well, the goddess Yogānandinī is established.
दृष्ट्या दृष्टा निर्मलया योगमापुश्चतुःसनाः 1.2.47.
With pure vision, the Four Sanas beheld her and attained union.
सैव चांडकटाहान्मे समाराध्यात्र प्रापिता
That very goddess, having been duly worshipped, was brought here to my cauldron.
एवमेता महाशक्त्यश्चतस्रः संस्थिताः सदा
Thus, these four great powers are always established here.
