Bestower of fame, eternal, radiant, remover of sin,
One who has fulfilled his purpose, well-associated, all-knowing, lord of speech,
Remover of the distress of those who bow, free from disease, long-lived, giver of happiness, joyful,
Pure, complete, giver of the path to liberation, enjoyer, great lord.
He is the father of the world, Dhūmaketu, disperser of darkness, and the revered teacher.
He delights in the Sāma hymns, is the friend of all beings, assumes many forms, and initiates the ages.
Thus, I praised Bhānu with these eight hundred names.
Pleased by this hymn, Bhāskara spoke to me.
Whoever worships me here as Bhaṭṭāditya with great devotion,
And whichever Brahmin offers to me, whether little or much,
With red lotuses, kahlāra flowers, kesara, and karavīra blossoms,
On the seventh or sixth lunar day, those who worship me here,
By seeing me and with devotion, disease and poverty are destroyed.
But whoever acts without devotion toward me will certainly meet ruin.
Whether recited three times daily or once, the fruit of hearing it is,
One attains a lifespan of a hundred years, free from all diseases.
Even a small amount of food acquired by him becomes inexhaustible.
Therefore, you should recite this; it is the supreme and great blessing.
Wherever the art of assuming forms exists, there is a sacred pit in the forest.
Then, by the words of Bhāskara and the presence of the lord of siddhis,
The pit for assuming forms and those trees, O Bhārata,
On the seventh day of the bright fortnight in the month of Māgha, whether woman or man,
Endless merit accrues to the one who worships that chariot.
And all those people who see it are blessed, without a doubt.
Those men who arrange the chariot festival will become blessed.
On the seventh day, in Bhaṭṭāditya’s sacred tank, one attains the fruit of giving a hundred tawny cows.
All the Vasudevas and others declare this, O great sage.
Without offering arghya to Bhāskara, all acts performed are fruitless.
Just as Brahmā and the other gods offer arghya to the great-souled one.
First, at sunrise, having purified oneself, one should draw a circle with cow dung, then make a smaller circle with red sandalwood; after that, fill a copper vessel with red sandalwood water, white sandalwood, and other substances, and in its center place gold, rice grains, dūrvā grass, curds, and ghee.
