मंतव्यमथ बोद्धव्यं सप्तैताः समिधो मम ४२.
These seven—what is to be thought and what is to be understood—are my fuel-sticks.
एवंविधेन यज्ञेन यजाम्यस्मि तमीश्वरम् ४२.
With such a sacrifice as this, I worship that Lord.
न मे स्वभावेषु भवंति लेपास्तोयस्य बिंदोरिव पुष्करेषु ४२.
No stains adhere to my nature, just as water-drops do not cling to lotus leaves.
न सज्जते कर्मसु भोगजालं दिवीव सूर्यस्य मयूखजालम्॥ ४२.
Pleasures arising from actions do not attach to me, just as the rays of the sun do not cling to the sky.
एवंविधेन पुत्रेण मा मातर्दुःखिनी भव ४२.
With such a son, O Mother, do not be sorrowful.
इति पुत्रवचः श्रुत्वा विस्मिता इतराभवत् ४२.
Hearing her son's words, she became astonished.
लोकेषु ख्यातिमायाति ततो मे स्याद्यशः परम् ४२.
He attains fame among people, and thus my supreme renown is established.
प्रहृष्टस्तस्य तैर्वाक्यैर्विस्मितः प्रादुरास च ४२.
Delighted by those words, he appeared, filled with wonder.
जगदुद्भासयन्भासा सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभः ४२.
He shone forth, illuminating the world, radiant as ten million suns.
मूर्ध्नि बद्धांजलिं धीमानैतरेयोऽथ तुष्टुवे॥ ४२.
Then the wise son of Itara, with hands joined upon his head, praised him.
नमस्तुभ्यं भगवते वासुदेवाय धीमहि ४२.
Salutations to you, O Lord, Vāsudeva; we contemplate you.
नमो विज्ञानमात्राय परमानंदमूर्तये ४२.
Salutations to the one who is pure consciousness, whose form is supreme bliss.
आत्मानंदानुरुद्धाय सम्यक्तयक्तोर्मये नमः ४२.
Salutations to him who is supported by the bliss of the Self, who is rightly established in yoga.
वचस्युपरते प्राप्यो य एको मनसा सह ४२.
He who is attained when speech ceases, who is one with the mind—him I salute.
यस्मिन्निदं यतश्चेदं तिष्ठत्यपैति जायते ४२.
In whom this universe abides, from whom it arises, in whom it remains, into whom it dissolves, and from whom it is born.
यं न स्पृशंति न विदुर्मनोबुद्धींद्रियासवः ४२.
Whom the mind, intellect, senses, and vital airs neither touch nor comprehend.
देहेंद्रियप्राणमनोधियोऽमी यदंशब्द्धाः प्रचरंति कर्मसु ४२.
In whom these—body, senses, life-breath, mind, and intellect—move about in actions as mere fragments.
चतुर्भिश्च त्रिभिर्द्वाभ्यामेकधा प्रणमामि तम् ४२.
To Him I bow, who is one, who is expressed as four, three, and two.
हित्वा गतीर्मोक्षकामा यं भजंति दशात्मकम् ४२.
Those who desire liberation, abandoning all paths, worship Him who is of tenfold nature.
ॐनमो भगवते महापुरुषाय महानुभावाय विभूतिपतये सकलसात्वतपरिवृढनिकरकरकमलोत्पलकुड्मलोपलालितचरणारविंदयुगल परमपरमेष्ठिन्नमस्ते॥ ४२.
Om, obeisance to the Blessed Great Person, of great power, Lord of all glories, whose twin lotus feet are fondled by the budding lotuses of the hands of the assembly of all the exalted Sātvatas—supreme and most supreme Lord, I bow to You.
तवाग्निरास्यं वसुधांघ्रियुग्मं नभः शिरश्चंद्ररवी च नेत्रे ४२.
Your mouth is fire, your two feet are the earth, your head is the sky, and the moon and sun are your eyes.
जन्मानि तावंति न संति देव निष्पीड्य सर्वाणि च सर्वकालम् ४२.
O God, there are not as many births as there are, even if all are compressed together for all time.
संपच्छिलानां हिमवन्महेंद्रकैलासमेर्वादिषु नैव तादृक् ४२.
Among the multitude of mountains—Himavat, Mahendra, Kailāsa, Meru, and others—there is none like that.
न संतिते देव भुवि प्रदेशा न येषु जातोऽस्मि तथा विनष्टः ४२.
O God, there are no places on earth where I have not been born and perished likewise.
शोकाभिभूतस्य ममाश्रु देव यावत्प्रमाणं पतितं भवेषु ४२.
O God, as much as my tears have fallen in the worlds, overwhelmed by grief, that is their measure.
मन्ये धरित्रीपरमाणुसंख्यामुपैति पित्रोर्गणना न मह्यम् ४२.
I think the number of atoms on earth may be reached, but the count of my parents is not for me.
त्वय्यर्पितं नाथ पुनः पुनर्मे मनः समाक्षिप्य सुदुर्द्धरारि ४२.
O Lord, though my mind is repeatedly offered to you, it is again and again seized by the most difficult-to-overcome enemy.
सोऽहं भृशार्तः करुणाकरस्त्वं संसारगर्ते पतितस्य विष्णो ४२.
Thus I, greatly afflicted, and you, O ocean of compassion, O Viṣṇu, for one fallen into the pit of worldly existence.
परायणं रोगवतो हि वैद्यो महाब्धिमग्नस्य च नौर्नरस्य ४२.
You are the refuge, the physician for one afflicted by disease, the boat for a man sunk in the great ocean.
प्रसीद सर्वेश्वर सर्वभूत सर्वस्य हेतो परमार्थसार ४२.
Be gracious, O Lord of all, O soul of all beings, cause of all, essence of the highest truth.
