All of them, headed by Maheśa, were addressed by Mahākāla, the great-minded one.
Then, by Brahmā and the other gods, on a splendid throne made of jewels—
Then, embracing the goddess, he joyfully took her onto his own lap.
And it was declared: as long as this universe exists, the vow of Śiva remains.
And the god granted this boon: whoever worships your liṅga—
—by seeing, praising, worshipping, bowing, and then reciting—
When this was spoken, the gods, astonished, exclaimed, 'Excellent! Excellent!'
Then, praised by the gods and honored by the celestial bards,
Surrounded on all sides by countless millions singing his praises,
Mahākāla, with Bhava at the forefront, went to Rudra's abode.
There is also a sacred well and lake of Mahākāla, bestowing success.
Mahākāla, embracing them, presented them to Śiva.
'Seen, touched, and worshipped, you have reached Bhava's abode.' Thus, O Phālguna, these seven liṅgas came into being.
Those noble men who hear and recite this too are blessed.
Then, after I had established it in its place, in the course of time—
This holy place, without Vāsudeva, does not please me.
Where Hari, the Lord, is not present—whether in a holy place, a house, or the mind—
Therefore, having propitiated the boon-giver, the Supreme Person, at this holy place—
Thinking thus, O Kauravya, I then remained here.
Reciting the eight-syllabled mantra and restraining my senses,
Thus worshipped by me, Hari mounted Garuḍa.
With joined palms, I offered arghya to Hari according to the rite.
O Lord, the form of yours I once saw on Śvetadvīpa—
Of that form, O Janārdana, establish here one portion.
Thus, when I had made my request, the bearer of Garuḍa on his banner spoke.
All this shall indeed come to pass just as you have asked, and will always remain here.
By me, Viṣṇu has been established here, desiring the welfare of the worlds.
He, the ancient one of the universe, is known as Viśva and therefore remembered as Vāsudeva.
One should perform bathing according to the prescribed method at the streams and springs.
After fasting, one should keep vigil, singing and playing music before Hari.
