तन्मध्ये विश्वरूपं च वामाद्यष्टादिशक्तिकम् ४१.
In the center, place the universal form along with the eight primary powers, beginning from the left.
वामांकगिरिजं देवं ध्यायेत्सिद्धैः स्तुतं मुहुः ४१.
Meditate upon the deity Girija seated on the left, repeatedly praised by the accomplished ones.
पानीयमक्षता दर्भा गंधपूष्पं ससर्पिषम् ४१.
Water, unbroken rice, darbha grass, fragrance, flowers, and clarified butter are to be used.
ततः श्रद्धार्द्रचित्तस्य स्नानं लिंगस्य चाचरेत् ४१.
Then, with a mind moist with faith, one should perform the bathing of the lingam.
अर्द्धेन स्नापयेत्पूर्वं कुर्याच्च मलघर्षणम् ४१.
First, bathe it with half the materials, and perform the rubbing away of impurities.
प्रणम्य च ततो भक्त्या स्नापयेन्मूलमंत्रतः इति द्वादशाक्षरो मूलमंत्रः॥ ४१.
After bowing with devotion, bathe it with the root mantra. Thus, the root mantra is twelve syllables.
वारिक्षरदधिक्षौद्रघृतेनेक्षुरसेन च ४१.
With water, curd, honey, ghee, and sugarcane juice,
गडुकैः स्नापयेत्सर्वैः स्नातं गन्धैर्विरूक्षयेत्॥ ४१.
Bathe it with all these, and after bathing, anoint it with fragrances.
विरूक्षितं ततः स्नाप्य श्रीखण्डेन विलेपयेत् ४१.
After anointing with fragrance, bathe it again and smear it with sandalwood paste.
आग्नेयपादे नैर्ऋतके वायव्ये ईशानपादे पूर्वपादे दक्षिणे पश्चिमे उत्तरे ॐअनैश्वर्याय नमः ॐपद्माय नमः ॐअर्कमण्डला नमः ॐवह्निमण्डला नमः ॐपरमप्रकृत्यै देव्यै नमः ४१.
At the southeast, southwest, northwest, northeast, east, south, west, north: Om, salutations to the lord of sovereignty; Om, salutations to the lotus; Om, salutations to the solar circle; Om, salutations to the fire circle; Om, salutations to the supreme nature, the goddess.
ततो जलाधारमुखे चण्डीश्वराय नमः ४१.
Then, at the mouth of the water vessel: Om, salutations to Candīśvara.
पानीयमक्षताः पुष्पमेतैर्युक्तं फलोत्तमैः ४१.
Water, unbroken rice, flowers, and excellent fruits are to be offered with these.
अर्घादनंतरं शक्तः पूजयेद्वसुपूजया ४१.
After the offering of arghya, one who is able should worship with the Vasupūjā.
घण्टां च वादयेत्तत्र ततो नीराजनं चरेत् ४१.
One should sound the bell there, and then perform the waving of lights.
नीराजनं च यः पश्ये द्देवदेवस्य शूलिनः ४१.
Whoever beholds the waving of lights before the God of gods, the wielder of the trident,
नृत्यं गीतं च वाद्यं च अलीकमपि यश्चरेत् ४१.
Or performs dance, song, or instrumental music, even if not perfectly,
स्तोत्रैस्ततश्च संस्तूय दण्डवत्प्रणमेद्भुवि ४१.
And then, having praised him with hymns, offers prostration upon the ground,
य एवं यजते रुद्रमस्मिँल्लिंगे विशेषतः ४१.
Whoever thus worships Rudra, especially in the form of the liṅga,
सर्वात्पापात्समुत्तार्य रुद्रलोके वसेच्चिरम् ४१.
Is freed from all sins and dwells long in the world of Rudra.
पशुपाशविमोक्षार्थं पूजयेत्तन्मना यदि ४१.
If one worships with a focused mind for the sake of release from the bonds of existence,
किं त्वेतत्सफलं राजन्नाचारयो न लंघयेत् ४१.
But, O King, this bears fruit only if the proper conduct is not transgressed.
आचाराल्लभते ह्यायुराचारो हंत्यलक्षणम् ४१.
Indeed, from proper conduct one obtains long life; improper conduct destroys good fortune.
भवन्ति यः सदाचारं समुल्लंघ्य प्रवर्तते ४१.
Whoever, having abandoned good conduct, acts otherwise,
त्रिवर्गसाधने यत्नः कर्तव्यो गृहमेधिना ४१.
A householder should strive for the attainment of the three aims of life.
ब्राह्मे मुहूर्ते बुध्येन धर्मार्थौ चापि चिन्तयेत् ४१.
He should rise during the brāhma-muhūrta and reflect upon righteousness and wealth.
सन्ध्यामुपासीत बुधः संशांतः प्रयतः शुचिः ४१.
A wise, peaceful, self-controlled, and pure person should perform the twilight worship.
उपासीत यथान्यायं नैनां जह्यादनापदि ४१.
He should perform it according to rule and not neglect it except in adversity.
असत्सेवां ह्यसद्वादं ह्यसच्छास्त्रं च पार्थिव ४१.
O King, one should avoid association with the wicked, false speech, and unworthy scriptures.
देवार्चनं च पूर्वाह्णे कार्याण्याहुर्महर्षयः वर्जयेदासनं चैव पदा नाकर्षयेद्बुधः॥ ४१.
The sages declare that worship of the gods should be performed in the forenoon; one should avoid dragging the seat with the foot, and the wise should not pull it with the feet.
जलमग्निं च निनयेद्यगपन्न विचक्षणः॥ ४१.
A discerning person should remove water and fire from their places when not in use.
