Thus, long ago, the blessed Rudra spoke for the pleasure of Skanda.
All the deities bowed and sang, 'Well done, well done!'
Thus ends the thirty-fifth chapter named 'The Greatness of Stambheśvara,' in the Kaumārikā section of the first Māheśvara book of the eighty-one-thousand-verse Skanda Mahāpurāṇa.
In this way, seeing those liṅgas on the earth, by the son of Hara—
—'Ah, blessed is this Kumāra at the confluence of earth and ocean!'
We too, for the sake of purification and to please Skanda and Rudra—
Or, even if there are crores of gods and sages, they cannot be counted.
The worship of them, whatever is to be done, is recited here because of their multitude.
His kingdom declines, afflicted by famine, disease, and thieves.
Having thus resolved, all, obtaining permission from Maheśvara—
Beholding a blessed plot of land in a secluded place, the supreme liṅga was seen.
Because it was established by the accomplished ones, by the gods beginning with Brahmā, of their own accord.
There, by all the gods, a most excellent pond was excavated at the liṅga.
Meanwhile, O Pārtha, from the netherworld came Śeṣa's son.
In this battle with Tāraka, a demon named Pralaṃba appeared.
He took away your wealth, sons, wives, daughters, and houses.
Hearing those words of Kumuda, the son of Śeṣa,
Then Skanda, angered, seized his spear and restrained them.
Then, released from Skanda's arm, the spear swiftly pierced the earth.
That spear, having slain Pralaṃba, who was surrounded by ten crores,
With that spear, O Pārtha, the opening made in the earth—
Skanda gave it the name 'Siddhakūpa,' as it is remembered.
Having bathed in the well, one should worship the Lord Siddheśvara with undistracted mind.
And whoever, having bathed in the Siddhakuṇḍa, performs the śrāddha with discernment—
For him, Rudra, pleased, grants a boon, and his lineage becomes inexhaustible.
Coming here, the highly fortunate one should perform the śrāddha with great devotion.
Then, at that time, Brahmā and the other gods, together with Skanda—
The blessed Janārdana, in the form of a fish, indeed entered you.
Thus they requested her, 'O auspicious one, you must not be abandoned here.'
On the eighth or fourteenth day, with offerings of food and flowers, you are to be worshipped, O auspicious one.
