ततो ब्रह्मादिभिः सार्धं विष्णुना शंकरेण च ३३.
Then, together with Brahma and others, with Vishnu and Shankara,
प्रतिज्ञेश्वरमित्येव लिंगं परमशोभनम् ३३.
They called it Pratijneshvara, that most splendid linga.
पूजां च जागरं कृत्वा मुच्येत्पारुष्यपापतः ३३.
By performing worship and vigil there, one is freed from the sin of harshness.
ततो द्वितीयं लिंगं तु वह्निकोणाश्रितं तथा ३३.
Then the second linga, likewise, was established in the southeast corner.
कपालेश्वरमित्येव लिंगं पापापहं शुभम् ३३.
That linga, called Kapaleshvara, is auspicious and destroys sin.
कपालेश्वरसांनिध्यं देवीं कापालिकेश्वरीम् ३३.
The presence of Kapaleshvara, and the goddess Kapalikesvari.
पातालगंगा यत्रास्तिं सर्वपापहरा शिवा ३३.
There is the Pātāla Gaṅgā, auspicious and remover of all sins.
तदा तोयं तारकाय सहितः सर्वदैवतैः॥ ३३.
Then, water together with Tāraka and all the gods—
काश्यपेयाय वज्रांगतनयाय महात्मने ३३.
—was given to Kāśyapeya, the great-souled son of Vajrāṅga.
ततो महेश्वरः प्रीतः प्राह स्कंदस्य श्रृण्वतः स्नात्वोपोष्य समभ्यर्च्य कपालेश्वरमीश्वरीम्॥ ३३.
Then Maheśvara, pleased, spoke as Skanda listened, after bathing, fasting, and duly worshipping Kapāleśvara and the Goddess.
तेजोवधसमुद्भूतपातकेन स मुच्यते॥ ३३.
He is freed from the sin born of slaying radiance.
अस्यामेव तिथौ सोमः शिवयोगश्च तैतिलम् स्नात्वात्र सशरीरो वै रुद्रलोकं व्रजीष्यति॥ ३३.
On this very lunar day, Soma and the union with Śiva occur; having bathed here with the body, one will go to the world of Rudra.
कपालेशस्य सांनिध्ये शक्तिच्छिद्रं हि कीर्त्यते ३३.
In the presence of Kapāleśa, the breach of Śakti is indeed proclaimed.
इति श्रुत्वा रुद्रवाक्यं स्कंदः प्रीतोऽभवद्भृशम् ३३.
Hearing these words of Rudra, Skanda became greatly pleased.
ततस्तृतीयलिंगस्य चिकीर्षु स्थापनं गुहम् ३४.
Then, desiring to establish the third liṅga, Guha—
यद्यप्येतच्छुभं लिंगं सर्वदोषविवर्जितम् ३४.
Although this liṅga is auspicious and free from all faults—
ततो ब्रह्मा सर्वदोषविमुक्तं निर्ममे स्वयम् ३४.
Then Brahmā himself created it, free from all faults.
तत्र स्कंदस्य प्रीत्यर्थं सर्वदेवैर्निनिर्मितम् ३४.
There, for the pleasure of Skanda, it was made by all the gods.
गंगादिकानि तीर्थानि यानि प्रोचुर्दिवौकसः ३४.
The holy places beginning with Gaṅgā, which the gods declared—
एवमस्त्विति तान्यूचुः प्रीत्यर्थं शरजन्मनः गाधिपुत्रादिभिर्विप्रैस्तर्पयामास संयुतः॥ ३४.
‘So be it,’ they said, for the pleasure of the son of the Reed; together with the sons of the king of Gādhi and other brahmins, he offered libations.
ततो वैशाखमासस्य चतुर्द्दश्यां शुभे दिने ३४.
Then, on the auspicious fourteenth day of the month of Vaiśākha—
जगुर्गंधर्वपतयो ननृतुश्चाप्सरोगणाः ३४.
The lords of the Gandharvas sang, and the hosts of Apsarases danced.
सर्वतीर्थोदकैः स्नाप्य तल्लिंगं भक्तिसंयुतः ३४.
Bathing that liṅga with the waters of all the holy places, with devotion—
पूजाकाले स्वयं तत्र लिंगमध्येस्थितो हरः ३४.
At the time of worship, Hara himself was present there within the liṅga.
ततस्तं पूजयन्प्राह स्कंदो भक्तिपरिप्लुतः ३४.
Then, filled with devotion, Skanda honored him and spoke.
मम यः स्थापयेल्लिंगं शुभं सद्म च कारयेत् ३४.
Whoever establishes a pure liṅga for me and builds a dwelling as well,
मम सद्म सुधाशुभ्रं यावत्संख्यं करोति यः ३४.
Whoever constructs my dwelling, shining white as nectar, in whatever number,
ध्वजभूतो ध्वजं दत्त्वा विपापः स्यात्पताकया ३४.
By offering a flag as a banner, one becomes free from sin through the flag.
रजःसंशोधनं कृत्वा नरो रोगैः प्रमुच्यते ३४.
Having purified the dust, a person is released from diseases.
पुष्पक्षीरादि भिर्दत्तैस्तिलाभोऽक्षतदर्भकैः ३४.
