कर्दमो यस्त्वहमपि ज्ञात्वा तीर्थमहा गुणान् ३०.
I am Kardama, and knowing the great virtues of the sacred fords—
ततो महेश्वरः प्राह सत्यमेतत्सुरोदितम् ३०.
Then Maheshvara said, 'What the gods have said is true.'
अत्राभिषेकं ते वीर करिष्यामः समादिश ३०.
Here we shall perform your consecration, O hero; command us.
अभिषिञ्चन्तु मां देवा इति तानब्रवीद्वचः ३०.
He said to them, 'Let the gods anoint me.'
जुहुवुर्मंत्रपूतेऽग्नौ चत्वारो मुख्यऋत्विजः ३०.
The four chief priests offered oblations into the fire, purified by mantras.
अन्ये च शतशस्तत्र मुनयो वेदपारगाः ३०.
And there, hundreds of other sages, accomplished in the Vedas, were also present.
यदग्निकुण्डमध्यस्थो लिंगमूर्तिर्व्यदृश्यत ३०.
Within the center of the sacrificial fire-pit, the form of the liṅga was seen.
एतत्संदर्शनार्थाय लिंगमूर्तिरभूद्विभुः ३०.
For the purpose of this vision, the all-pervading liṅga-form appeared.
सर्वपापापहं पार्थ सर्वकामफलप्रदम् ३०.
O Pārtha, it removes all sins and grants the fruits of all desires.
दिव्यरत्नान्विते स्कन्दो निषण्णः परमासने ३०.
Skanda, adorned with divine jewels, was seated upon the supreme throne.
अभ्यषिंचंस्ततो देवाः कुमारं शंकरात्मजम् ३०.
Then the gods anointed Kumāra, the son of Śaṅkara.
आदित्याद्य ग्रहाः सर्वे तथोभावनिलानलौ ३०.
All the planets beginning with the Sun, as well as the Moon, Wind, and Fire, were present.
विश्वेदेवाश्च मरुतो गंधर्वाप्सरसस्तथा ३०.
The Viśvadevas, the Maruts, the Gandharvas, and the Apsarases were also there.
विद्याधरा योगसिद्धाः पुलस्त्यपुलहादयः ३०.
The Vidyādharas, the accomplished Yogis, and sages such as Pulastya and Pulaha attended.
दक्षोऽथ मनवो ये च ज्योतींषि ऋतवस्तथा ३०.
Dakṣa, the Manus, the luminaries, and the seasons were also present.
लवणाद्याः समुद्राश्च प्रभासाद्याश्च तीर्थकाः ३०.
The oceans, beginning with the saline sea, and the sacred fords, beginning with Prabhāsa, were there.
आदित्याद्या मातरश्च कुर्वंत्यो गुहमंगलम् ३०.
The Mothers, beginning with the Ādityas, performed auspicious rites for Guha.
वरुणो धनदश्चैव यमः सानुचरस्तथा ३०.
Varuṇa, Kubera, and Yama with his attendants were also present.
धर्मो बृहस्पतिश्चैव कपिलो गाधिनंदनः ३०.
Dharma, Bṛhaspati, Kapila, and the son of Gādhi were there as well.
ते च सर्वे महीकूले ह्यभ्यषिंचन्मुदा गुहम् ३०.
All of them, in the assembly of the earth, joyfully anointed Guha.
ददौ पशुपतिस्तस्मै सर्वभूतमहाचमूम् ३०.
Paśupati gave to him the great army of all beings.
उमा ददौ चारजसी वाससी सूर्यसप्रभा ३०.
Umā gave him two garments, pure as the rays of the sun.
मही महानदी तस्य चाक्षमालां ससागरा ३०.
The earth, the great river, and his rosary of eyes, together with the oceans.
गरुडो दयितं पुत्रं मयूरं चित्रबर्हिणम् ३०.
Garuḍa gave his beloved son, the peacock with variegated feathers.
छागं च वरुणो राजा बलवीर्यसमन्वितम् ३०.
And King Varuṇa gave a goat endowed with great strength and valor.
चतुरोऽनुचरांश्चैव महावीर्यान्बलोत्कटान् ३०.
And four attendants, mighty and powerful, were also given.
चतुर्थं चाप्यतिबलं ख्यातं कुसुममालिनम् ३०.
The fourth, exceedingly strong and famed as Kusumamālin, was also given.
स हि देवासुरे युद्धे दैत्यानां भीमकर्मणाम् ३०.
For in the battle of gods and demons, he fought the Daityas of terrible deeds.
यमः प्रादादनुचरौ यमकालोपमौ तदा ३०.
Yama then gave two attendants, resembling Yama and Kāla.
सुभ्राजौ भास्करस्यैव यौ सदा चानुयायिनौ ३०.
The two radiant ones, ever followers of the Sun, were also given.
