ततस्तान्प्रहसन्नाह विवादो युज्यते न च २९.
Then, laughing at them, he said, 'This dispute is not appropriate.'
ततः प्राहुश्च षड्देव्यः स्वर्गो नो ह्यक्षयो भवेत् २९.
Then the six goddesses said, 'May our heaven never be diminished.'
रोहिण्याश्चानुजा स्कंद स्पर्धमानाभिजित्खला २९.
O Skanda, Abhijit, the younger sister of Rohini, was jealous and contentious.

From that time onward, I have been deluded; O Lord, establish me in that place.
नक्षत्रं सप्तशीर्षाभं भाति तद्वह्निदैवतम् तदग्नेः प्रियतां देहि सहवासं सदैव च॥ २९.
The constellation with seven heads shines; that is the deity of fire—grant Agni your favor and always dwell together.
हव्यं कव्यं च यत्किंचिद्द्विजा होष्यंति पावके॥ २९.
Whatever oblations or offerings the twice-born make, they will offer into the fire.
तत्ते नाम्ना प्रदास्यंति वासः सार्धं भवेत्तव २९.
They will grant you, by name, a dwelling together with him.
स चाप्याहाद्यप्रभृति यज्ञभागानवाप्नुहि २९.
And from that time onward, you will receive shares of the sacrifices.
एवमेवेति तानाह स्कंदस्तद्धि सुदुर्लभम् अभ्यषिंचन्गिरौ तस्मिन्योगिनामादिपत्यके॥ २९.
Skanda replied, 'So be it,' for that is indeed most rare; then they anointed him on that mountain, the foremost among yogins.
योगीश्वरमिति प्राहुस्ततस्तं योगिनस्तथा २९.
From then on, the yogins called him 'Lord of Yogis.'
अभिषिक्तेन तेनासौ शुशुभे श्वेतपर्वतः २९.
Anointed by them, the White Mountain shone brilliantly.
ततो देवाः सगन्धर्वा नृत्यंत्यप्सरसस्तथा २९.
Then the gods, along with the Gandharvas, and the Apsaras also, danced.
एवं सेन्द्रं जगत्सर्वं श्वेतपर्वतसंस्थितम् २९.
Thus, the entire world with Indra was established on the White Mountain.
ततः स्कन्दः सुरैः सार्धं श्वेतपर्वत मस्तकात् ३०.
Then Skanda, together with the gods, descended from the summit of the White Mountain.
ततः सरस्वतीतीरे यानि भूतानि नारद ३०.
Then, O Narada, on the bank of the Sarasvati, whatever beings were there—
उन्मादा ये ह्यपस्माराः पलादाश्च पिशाचकाः ३०.
Those who are mad, those afflicted by epilepsy, the Paladas, and the Pisacas—
यथा ते नैव मर्यादां संत्यजंति दुराशयाः ३०.
Just as those with evil intentions never abandon proper conduct.
अप्रकीर्णेन्द्रियं दांतं शुचिं नित्यमतंद्रितम् ३०.
One whose senses are not scattered, who is self-controlled, pure, and ever diligent.
महेश्वरं च ये भक्ता भक्ता नारायणं च ये ३०.
Those who are devoted to Maheshvara, and those who are devoted to Narayana.
ततः सर्वैः सुरैः सार्धं महीतीरं ययौ गुहः ३०.
Then Guha, together with all the gods, went to the riverbank.
श्रृण्वन्विसिष्मिये स्कन्दः प्रणनाम च तां नदीम् ३०.
Hearing this, Skanda was amazed and bowed to that river.
प्रणम्य शक्रप्रमुखा गुहं वचनमब्रुवन् ३०.
Having bowed, Indra and the other gods spoke these words to Guha.
न शर्म लभते सेना तस्मात्त्वमभिषेचय ३०.
The army does not find peace; therefore, you should be consecrated.
अभिषेक्ष्यामहे त्वां च तत्र नो द्रष्टुमर्हसि ३०.
We will consecrate you there; you should be present to see it.
सर्वतीर्थान्तरस्थानं तथार्णवमहीजले ३०.
That place contains all sacred fords, as well as the waters of the ocean and the earth.
सर्वतीर्थमयस्तद्वन्महीसागरसंगमः ३०.
That confluence of the ocean and the earth is indeed composed of all sacred fords.
तथा महीसमुद्रस्य स्नानं सर्वफलप्रदम् ३०.
Likewise, bathing in the ocean of the earth bestows all results.
तेन सर्वेषु तीर्थेषु तर्पिता नात्र संशयः ३०.
By that, all the sacred fords are satisfied—of this there is no doubt.
यथा हि कटुतिक्तादि गवा ग्रस्तं हि क्षीरदम् ३०.
Just as when a cow eats something bitter or pungent, it still produces milk.
एवं ब्रुवत्सु देवेषु कपिलोऽपि मुनिर्जगौ ३०.
While the gods were speaking thus, the sage Kapila also spoke.
