अस्माद्भूधरजा देहसंपर्कात्त्वं ममाज्ञया २९.
From the dust of this mountain, by contact with your body and by my command, you have arisen.
य एष सिंहः प्रोद्भूतो देव्याः क्रोधाद्वरानने २९.
This lion, fierce-faced, has arisen from the goddess’s wrath.
गच्छ विंध्याचले तत्र सुरकार्यं करिष्यति २९.

सर्वैः पूर्वभवोपात्तैस्तदा स्वयमुपस्तितैः २९.
Then, with all those who had come from previous births now present themselves,
मुहुः स्वं परिनिंदंती जगाम गिरिशांतिकम् २९.
Again and again reproaching herself, she went to the abode of Shiva.
रुरोध वीरको देवीं हेमवेत्रलताधरः २९.
Viraka, holding a golden staff, blocked the goddess.
प्रयोजनं न तेऽस्तीह गच्छ यावन्न भर्त्स्यसे २९.
You have no business here; go before you are rebuked.
प्रविष्टो न च दृष्टोऽसौ स च देवेन घातितः २९.
He entered but was not seen, and he was slain by the goddess.
कापि स्त्री नापि मोक्तव्या त्वया पुत्रेति सादरम् २९.
No woman, nor even you, O daughter, is to be allowed by you.
भविष्यसि न चाप्यत्र प्रवेशं लप्स्यसे व्रज २९.
You will not remain here, nor will you gain entry; depart.
नगाधिराजतनया पार्वती रुद्रवल्लभा २९.
Parvati, daughter of the king of mountains, beloved of Rudra,
न सा नारी तु दैत्योऽसौ वायोर्नैवावबासत २९.
She was not a woman, but a demon; the wind could not perceive her.
अकार्यं क्रियते मूढैः प्रायः क्रोधसमन्वितैः २९.
Foolish people, overcome by anger, often do what should not be done.
अपरिच्छिन्नसर्वार्था पुत्रं शापितवत्यहम् २९.
I, who possess unbounded understanding of all things, have cursed my own son.
संचिंत्यैवमुवाचेदं वीरकं प्रति शैलजा २९.
Thinking thus, the daughter of the mountain spoke these words to Vīraka.
अहं वीरक ते माता मा तेऽस्तु मनसो भ्रमः २९.
I am your mother, Vīraka; let there be no confusion in your mind.
मम गात्रस्थितिभ्रांत्या मा शंकां पुत्र भावय २९.
Do not harbor any doubt, my son, because of my body's apparent instability.
मया शप्तोऽस्यविदिते वृत्तांते दैत्यनिर्मिते २९.
Unaware of the circumstances, I cursed you, as devised by the demon.
न निवर्तयितुं शक्यः शापः किं तु ब्रवीमि ते २९.
The curse cannot be undone; however, I will tell you this.
पुण्ये चाप्यर्बुदारण्ये स्वर्गमोक्षप्रदे नृणाम् २९.
In the sacred Arbuda forest, which grants heaven and liberation to people,
वाराणस्यां विश्वनाथसमं तत्फलदं नृणाम् २९.
At Vārāṇasī, equal to Viśvanātha, it bestows the same fruit to people.
तदेकयात्रया प्रोक्तमर्बुदस्य महागिरेः २९.
This has been declared in three ways about the great mountain Arbuda.
संसारी न पुनर्भूयान्महेश्वरवचो यथा २९.
One who is bound to worldly existence will not be so again, just as Maheśvara has said.
वाराणसीं च केदारं किं स्मरंति वृथैव ते २९.
Why do they remember Vārāṇasī and Kedāra in vain?
शीघ्रमेष्यसि चात्रैव प्रतीहारत्वमाप्स्यसि २९.
You will come here quickly and attain the position of gatekeeper.
संस्तूय विविधैर्वाक्यैर्मातरं समभाषत २९.
Praising his mother with various words, he addressed her.
शापोऽनुग्रहरूपोऽयं विशेषादर्बुदाचले २९.
This curse is actually a form of blessing, especially on Mount Arbuda.
ऊधः पृथिव्या देशोऽयं यो गिरेश्चार्णवांतरे २९.
This land, which is the udder of the earth, lies between the mountain and the ocean.
