सुवर्णस्तेयकृच्छोणक्षेत्रे बिल्वदलैर्हरम्
One who has stolen gold, at Śoṇa mountain, should worship Hara with bilva leaves.
गुरुदाररतिर्गत्वा कृत्तिकास्वरुणाचलम्
One who has had intercourse with his teacher's wife should go to Kṛttikā's Aruṇa mountain.
मासत्रयं समाराध्य श्रीशोणाचलशंकरम्
He should worship Śrī Śoṇācala Śaṃkara for three months.
षडक्षरं जपेन्नित्यं तेन मुच्येत पाप्मना 1.3.2.6.
He should recite the six-syllable mantra daily; by this, he is freed from sin.
परदारापहर्त्ता च क्षेत्रेस्मिन्नियतेंद्रियः
One who has abducted another's wife, with controlled senses, in this region,
माहेश्वराय वितरेद्धनं शक्त्यानुगुण्यतः
Should give wealth to a devotee of Maheśvara according to his ability.
गरदोऽप्यरुणक्षेत्रे व्रती भूत्वा यथापुरा
Even a poisoner, by undertaking vows in the Aruṇa field as before, becomes purified.
पिशुनोऽप्यरुणक्षेत्रे व्रती वेदरतो नरः
Even a slanderer, devoted to the Vedas and observing vows in the Aruṇa field, attains merit.
अग्निदोऽप्यरुणक्षेत्रे त्रीन्मासान्पूर्ववद्व्रती
Even one who sets fire, by observing vows in the Aruṇa field for three months as previously prescribed, is absolved.
धर्मनिंदाकरः शोणक्षेत्रे वर्षं व्रती वसन्
One who reviles dharma, dwelling with vows in the Śoṇa field for a year, is purified.
पितृद्रोह्यरुणक्षेत्रे तिष्ठन्मासमतंद्रितः
One who betrays his ancestors, standing alert in the Aruṇa field for a month, is absolved.
ग्रहोपरागकालेषु भोजयित्वा द्विजान्बहून्
During times of planetary eclipses, one should feed many Brahmins.
स्त्रीघ्नश्चापि शिशुघ्नोऽपि शोणक्षेत्रमुपेयिवान्
Even a woman-killer or child-killer, having approached the Śoṇa field, attains purification.
प्रच्छन्नपापकृच्छोणक्षेत्रेऽस्मिन्नियतेंद्रियः 1.3.2.6.
One who commits hidden sins, with controlled senses in this Śoṇa field, is purified.
मृषाभाष्यरुणक्षेत्रे षण्मासान्निवसन्व्रती
One who speaks falsely, dwelling with vows in the Aruṇa field for six months, is absolved.
कूपादिभेदकृच्छोणक्षेत्रमासाद्य भक्तितः
One who damages wells and the like, upon reaching the Śoṇa field with devotion, is purified.
क्षेत्रापहारी देवाय क्षेत्रं दद्यान्महाफलम्
One who steals land should give land to the deity, which yields great fruit.
गृहापहारी कुर्वीत देवस्यायतनं नवम्
One who steals a house should construct a new temple for the deity.
परद्रोही वसञ्छोणक्षेत्रे माहेश्वरान्धनैः
One who harms others, dwelling in the Śoṇa field with wealth dedicated to Maheśvara, is purified.
पश्वादिमांसभुक्छोणक्षेत्रे पक्षत्रयं व्रती
One who eats the flesh of animals and the like, observing vows in the Śoṇa field for three fortnights, is absolved.
त्रिःशोणाचलनाथेति निनदन्ननघो भवेत्
By thrice proclaiming 'Lord of Śoṇa Mountain,' one becomes free from sin.
अरुणेश्वरमंत्रं च जपेन्मोक्षेच्छुरादरात्
One who desires liberation should recite the mantra of Aruṇeśvara with reverence.
कुर्वतारुणशैलस्य तत्प्राप्यं शुभमंजसा
By performing acts for Aruṇa Mountain, one attains its auspicious reward directly.
प्रीत्युत्कर्षेऽपि च बुधैरुच्चार्योऽरुणशंकरः 1.3.2.6.
Even in the highest joy, the wise should utter the name 'Aruṇa Śaṃkara.'
त्रीण्यहान्यरुणक्षेत्रे वसन्मुच्येत पातकैः
One who dwells for three days in the field of Aruṇa is freed from sins.
एष दक्षिणकैलासो योसावरुणपर्वतः
This is the southern Kailāsa, which is that very mountain of Aruṇa.
अस्मिन्स्मरणमात्रेण तारतम्यं विचिंत्यताम्
Even by merely remembering this place, consider the gradation of its merit.
कर्म सेतौ च यत्पुंसां शोणक्षेत्रे ततोऽधिकम्
The merit of actions performed at the Śoṇa field surpasses that of those done at the Setu.
राजसूयाश्वमेधौ च कुर्याच्छोणाचले बुधः
A wise person should perform the Rājasūya and Aśvamedha sacrifices on the Śoṇa mountain.
तस्य चांद्रायणशतं भवेत्सांतपनायुतम्
For him, it is as if he has performed a hundred Cāndrāyaṇa vows or ten thousand Sāṃtapana rites.
