विमृश्य कुर्वते सर्वं विमृश्यैतन्मया कृतम् २५.
All the wise act after reflection; this too has been done by me after reflection.
इति ब्रुवंत्यां तस्यां तु किंचित्प्रस्फुरिताधरम् २५.
As she was speaking thus, her lower lip trembled slightly.
वार्यतामिति विप्रोऽयं महद्दूषणबाषकः २५.
"Let this Brāhmaṇa be restrained; he is uttering great slander."
अथ वा किं च नः कार्यं वादेन सह ब्राह्मणैः २५.
Or else, what need have we for debate with Brāhmaṇas?
इत्युक्त्वोत्थाय गच्छंत्यां पिधाय श्रवणावुभौ २५.
Having said this, as she rose to go, she covered both her ears.
ततो निरीक्ष्य तं देवं संभ्रांता परमेश्वरी २५.
Then, seeing that god, the supreme goddess became agitated.
प्राह तां च महादेवो दासोऽस्मि तव शोभने २५.
Mahādeva said to her, "O beautiful one, I am your servant."
मनसस्त्वं प्रभुः शंभो दत्तं तच्च मया तव २५.
O Śambhu, you are the lord of the mind; what was given by me is yours.
पित्रा हि ते परिज्ञातं दृष्ट्वा त्वां रूपशालिनीम् २५.
Your father recognized you, seeing your radiant form.
तत्तस्य सर्वमेवास्तु वचनं त्वं हिमाचलम् २५.
Let all his words be fulfilled; you, Himalaya, must act accordingly.
इत्युक्त्वा तां महादेवः शुचिः शुचिषदो विभुः २५.
Having spoken thus, the pure and illustrious Mahadeva addressed her.
दृष्ट्वा देवीं तदा हृष्टो मेनया सहितोऽचलः॥ २५.
Seeing the goddess, the delighted Himalaya stood together with Mena.
आलिंग्याघ्राय पप्रच्छ सर्वं सा च न्यवेदयत् २५.
He embraced and smelled her, asked everything, and she reported it all.
स्वयंवरं प्रमुदितः सर्वलोकेष्वघोषयत् २५.
Joyful, he proclaimed the svayamvara throughout all the worlds.
यक्षाः सिद्धास्तथा साध्या दैत्याः किंपुरुषा नगाः २५.
Yakshas, Siddhas, Sadhyas, Daityas, Kimpurushas, and Nagas,
त्रयस्त्रिंशत्सहस्राणि त्रयस्त्रिंशच्छतानि च २५.
Thirty-three thousand and thirty-three hundred as well,
जग्मुर्गिरीन्द्रपुत्र्यास्तु स्वयंवरमनुत्तमम् २५.
Went to the unparalleled svayamvara of the mountain king's daughter.
तातास्माकं च सा देवी मेरो गच्छ नमामि ताम् २५.
Father, that goddess is ours; go to Meru, I bow to her.
विमानं सर्वतोभद्रं सर्वरत्नैरलंकृतम् २५.
A chariot, auspicious on all sides and adorned with every jewel,
गंधर्वसंघैर्विविधैः किंनरैश्च सुशोभनैः २५.
Accompanied by various groups of Gandharvas and beautiful Kinnaras,
सितातपत्ररत्नांशुमिश्रितं चावहत्तदा २५.
It was brought forth, mixed with the rays of jeweled white parasols.
चामरासक्तहस्ताभिर्दिव्यस्त्रीभिश्च संवृता २५.
Surrounded by divine women holding fly-whisks in their hands,
एवं तस्यां स्थितायां तु स्थिते लोकत्रये तदा २५.
Thus, as she remained there, so too did the three worlds stand still.
उत्संगतलसंगुप्तो बभूव भगवान्भवः २५.
Bhava, the blessed one, became concealed within her embrace.
अथ दृष्ट्वा शिशुं देवास्तस्य उत्संगवर्तिनः २५.
Then, seeing the child resting in her lap, the gods,
वज्रमाहारयत्तस्य बाहुमुद्यम्य वृत्रहा २५.
The slayer of Vritra raised his arm and brought forth the thunderbolt.
स्तंभितः शिशुरूपेण देवदेवेन लीलया २५.
The divine Lord, by his play, became motionless in the form of a child.
वह्निः शक्तिं तदा क्षेप्तुं न शशाक तथोत्थितः २५.
Then Agni, though arisen, was unable to hurl his power.
पाशं च वरुणो राजा ध्वजयष्टिं समीरणः २५.
Varuṇa, the king, his noose; Vāyu, his banner-staff—
नानायुधानि चादित्या मुसलं वसवस्तथा २५.
The Ādityas their various weapons, and the Vasus their pestle—
