Hari, Brahma, Mahendra, the Sun, Vāyu, Agni, and those led by them,
And the great mountains, beginning with Meru, who possess form,
The oceans and the rivers also, all of them assembled together.
Then, Himashaila became manifest in the world, along with all moving and unmoving beings.
Having experienced the festival, they then returned to their own abodes.
Then the blessed goddess, daughter of the mountain, played joyfully at that time, together with the beautiful daughters of the sages.
Once, O son of Pandu, Indra, who dwells on Meru, at that time—
Seeing me, the thousand-eyed one rose up, exceedingly delighted.
O great asura, O lord of day, O blazing fire of great madness,
Then, when I questioned him, Shakra spoke these words to me, smiling.
At the attainment of the fruit and success, you are remembered, O sage.
One attains supreme contentment by informing friends of the matter.
Therefore, you should approach the goddess, daughter of the mountain, beloved of the lord of mountains.
Then, having heard those words, I went to the best of mountains.
There, in the golden abode, he himself, with great devotion, made the offering.
Having received the arghya, he then asked me with gentle words.
I also, having spoken to him, replied to the lord of mountains.
Having entered and remained there, the protection of living beings is accomplished.
Through austerity, recitation, vows, and bathing, one attains the supreme self.
You uplift the Brahmins—what more can be said of your greatness?
Beings return joyfully to you, as to a householder.
You assist living beings; such indeed is the nature of the virtuous.
The great Lord himself dwells in your cave.
Menā, queen of the Himalaya, came out of desire to see you.
With all her limbs lowered in modesty, she entered the great assembly.
Her face veiled by her garment, she stood with lotus-hands joined in reverence.
Devoted to her husband, of auspicious conduct, blessed, and mother of a hero, O auspicious one.
Then I saw the daughter of Himavat, her eyes wide with wonder.
Then the goddess, mother of the world, displayed her childish nature to me.
She gently spoke these words: 'Child, offer respect to the sage.'
