अप्रमत्तैः सदा भाव्यं पाल्यश्च समयस्तथा २१.
One must always remain vigilant, and the agreement must be upheld.
प्रणतः संस्तुतो देवैर्ब्रह्माणं च सुरा ययुः॥ २१.
Having bowed and been praised by the gods, they went to Brahmā.
दिव्योत्तमैस्तत्र गतैरभिष्टुतो विदीप्ततेजा भुवनत्रयेऽपि २१.
There, praised by those who had arrived, his radiant splendor shone even in the three worlds.
स्वयमिन्द्रो निमिर्वह्निः कालनेमिर्यमोऽपि च २१.
Indra himself, Nimi, Agni, Kālanemi, and Yama also (were present).
मेषो वाताधिकारि च कुजंभो धनदोऽभवत् २१.
Meṣa became the lord of wind, Kujaṃbha became the giver of wealth.
एवं विप्रकृता देवा महेंद्रसहितास्तदा २२.
Thus, the gods, along with Mahendra, were afflicted at that time.
ततश्च विस्मितो ब्रह्मा प्राह तान्सुरपुंगवान् २२.
Then, astonished, Brahmā spoke to those foremost among the gods.
ततो देवाः स्वरूपस्थाः प्रम्लानवदनांबुजाः २२.
Then the gods, remaining in their own forms, with withered lotus-like faces.
नमो जगत्प्रसूत्यै ते हेतवे पालकाय च २२.
Salutations to you, the cause of the birth of the universe and its protector.
त्वमपः प्रथमं सृष्ट्वा तासु वीर्यमवासृजः २२.
You first created the waters, and then infused your energy into them.
वेदेष्वाहुर्विराड्रूपं त्वामेकरूपमीदृशम् २२.
In the Vedas, they declare you as the cosmic form, the singular form such as this.
महातलं चास्य गुल्फौ जंघे चापि तलातलम् २२.
The great netherworld is your ankles, and the lower regions are your shins.
महीतलं च जघनं नाभिश्चास्य नभस्तलम् २२.
The earth is your hips, and the navel is the realm of the sky.
ग्रीवा महश्चवदनं जनलोकः प्रकीर्त्यते २२.
The neck is the world of the great, and the mouth is called the world of beings.
चन्द्रसूर्यौ च नयने दिशः श्रोत्रे नासिकाश्विनौ २२.
The moon and sun are your eyes, the directions are your ears, and the Ashvins are your nostrils.
एवं ये ते विराड्रूपं संस्मरंत उपासते २२.
Thus, those who meditate upon your cosmic form worship you.
एवं स्थूलं प्राणिमध्यं च शूक्ष्मं भावेभावे भावितं त्वां गृणंति २२.
In this way, those who contemplate you as gross, as the center of living beings, and as subtle in every state, praise you.
एवं स्तुतो विरंचिस्तु कृपयाभिपरिप्लुतः २२.
Thus praised, Brahma was filled with compassion.
सर्वे भवन्तो दुःखार्ताः परिम्लानमुखांबुजाः २२.
All of you are afflicted by sorrow, with faces like wilted lotuses.
ममैवयं कृतिर्देवा भवतां यद्वडम्बना २२.
This act of mine, O gods, is for your sake, as you are oppressed.
यद्यद्विभूतिमत्सत्त्वं धार्मिकं चोर्जितं महत् २२.
Whatever being possesses greatness, virtue, and power,
तन्नूनं मम भग्नौ च बाहू तेन दुरात्मना २२.
That indeed, my arms have been broken by that wicked one.
योऽसौ वज्रांगतनयस्त्वया दत्तवरः प्रभो २२.
He, the son of Vajranga, to whom you granted a boon, O Lord,
यत्तन्महीसमुद्रस्य तटं शार्विकतीर्थकम् २२.
That which is the shore of the great ocean, the holy place of Sharvī,
ऋद्धयः सर्वदेवानां गृहीतास्तेन सर्वतः २२.
The prosperity of all the gods has been seized by him everywhere.
चंद्रसूर्यौ ग्रहास्तारा यच्चान्यद्देवपक्षतः २२.
The moon, the sun, the planets, the stars, and whatever else belongs to the gods' side.
वयं च विधृता स्तेन बहूपहसितास्तथा २२.
We have been restrained and mocked as thieves by many.
तद्वयं शरणं प्राप्ताः पीडिताः क्षुत्तृषार्दिताः २२.
Therefore, afflicted and tormented by hunger and thirst, we have come to you for refuge.
इत्युक्तः स्वात्मभूर्देवः सुरैर्दैत्यविचेष्टितम् २२.
Thus addressed, the self-born god heard from the gods about the actions of the Daitya.
अवध्यस्तारको दैत्यः सर्वैरपि सुरासुरैः २२.
The Daitya Tāraka cannot be slain by any of the gods or asuras.
