चकार वर्मजालानि चिच्छेद च धनूंषि च २१.
He created nets of armor and cut down their bows as well.
चापान्यन्यानि संगृह्य यावन्मुंचंति सायकान् २१.
Seizing other bows, they continued to release arrows.
ताडयामास शक्रं स हृदि सोपि मुमोचह २१.
He struck Indra in the heart, and Indra too released an arrow.
तार्क्ष्यविष्णू समाजघ्ने शराभ्यां तावमुह्यताम् २१.
He struck Garuḍa and Viṣṇu with two arrows, so that they were bewildered.
निर्ऋतेश्चाकरोत्कार्यं भीतबीतं विमोहयन् २१.
He performed a feat against Nirṛti, terrifying and confounding him.
ततः प्राप्य हरिः संज्ञां प्रोत्साह्य च दिशां पतीन् २१.
Then Hari regained consciousness and encouraged the guardians of the directions.
धूमकेतोर्ज्वलात्क्रुद्धस्तस्य च्छित्त्वा न्यपातयत् २१.
Enraged, he cut down the blazing banner of Dhūmaketu and brought it down.
धनेशश्च धनुः क्रुद्धो बिभेदबहुधा शरैः २१.
Kubera, enraged, shattered his bow into many pieces with arrows.
निर्ऋतिस्तिलशो वर्ण चक्रे बाणैस्ततो रणे २१.
Nirṛti, in battle, made his complexion like sesame seeds with arrows.
लिहंतः सृक्किणीं देवा वासुदेवादयस्तदा २१.
Then the gods, led by Vāsudeva, licked their lips for blood.
मुमोच मुद्गरं भीमं सहस्राक्षाय संगरे २१.
He hurled a terrible mace at Indra in the battle.
रथादाप्लुत्य धरणीमगमत्पाकशासनः २१.
Indra leapt from his chariot and descended to the earth.
स रथं चूर्णयामास न ममार च मातलिः २१.
He crushed the chariot, but Mātali did not die.
स्कन्धे गरुत्मतः सोऽपि निषसाद विचेतनः २१.
Then, unconscious, he collapsed onto the shoulder of Garuḍa.
यमं च पातयामास भूमौ दैत्यो मुखे हतम् २१.
The demon struck Yama, who fell to the ground, his mouth wounded.
वायुं पदा तदाक्षिप्य पातयामास भूतले २१.
He also struck Vāyu with his foot, casting him down to the earth.
ततो देवनिकायानामेकैकं क्षणमात्रतः २१.
Then, in a single moment, he attacked each host of the gods.
लब्धसंज्ञस्ततो विष्णुश्चक्रं जग्राह दुर्धरम् २१.
Regaining consciousness, Viṣṇu then seized his formidable discus.
मुमोच दानवेंद्रस्य दृढं वक्षसि केशवः २१.
Keśava hurled it firmly at the chest of the lord of the demons.
व्यशीर्यताथ कायेऽस्य नीलोत्पलमिवाश्मनि २१.
It shattered upon his body like a blue lotus against a stone.
तस्मिञ्जयाशा शक्रस्य दानवेन्द्राय संयुगे २१.
In that battle, Indra’s hope for victory was for the lord of the demons.
विशीर्यत विकीर्णार्चिः शतधा खण्डशो गतम् २१.
It broke apart, its blazing radiance scattered in a hundred fragments.
ज्वलितज्वलनाभासमंकुशं प्रमुमोच ह २१.
He released a goad blazing like burning fire.
ततः शैलेन्द्रमुत्पाट्य पुष्पितद्रुमकंदरम् २१.
Then, uprooting a mountain crowned with blossoming trees,
महीधरं तमायांतं सस्मितं दैत्यपुंगवः २१.
The foremost of demons, smiling, hurled that approaching mountain.
ततस्तेनैव चाहत्य पातयामास चांतकम् २१.
With that very mountain he struck and felled Antaka.
दैत्येन्द्रमूर्ध्नि चिक्षेप भ्राम्य वेगेन दुर्जयम् २१.
He whirled it with force and cast it at the head of the lord of demons, hard to withstand.
कल्पांतलोकदहनो ज्वलनो रोषसंज्वलन् २१.
Blazing with wrath, the fire that burns the worlds at the end of an age appeared.
ततः शिरीषमालेव सास्य वक्षस्यराजत २१.
Then, like a silk-cotton flower, it rested upon his shining chest.
द्युति भासितत्रैलोक्यं लोकपालोऽपि निर्ऋतिः २१.
Even Nirṛti, guardian of the world, shone, illuminating the three worlds with his radiance.
