He cut them apart in the sky into a hundred pieces with arrows like tongues of fire.
With effort, he covered the sky as clouds do during the rains.
Just as the wind disperses dense clouds at the meeting of the directions,
Then, the lord of the demons employed the wondrous Gandharva weapon.
And with cities of the Gandharvas, adorned with various kinds of ramparts and gateways.
By that shower of weapons, the great army of the Daityas was being destroyed.
Then Jambha, of great might, roared and laughed repeatedly.
Then he released the weapon called Maushala, exceedingly terrifying.
By those, all the Gandharva cities were shattered.
He quickly crushed them by the hundreds and thousands.
As that weapon was being employed, flames of fire burst forth.
With those machines, the battle in the sky became widespread.
Jambha released the mountain-weapon, which pulverizes groups of machines.
Those machines, swiftly made by Tvashtar, O Bharata,
Then, upon the heads of the gods, stones of great speed fell.
Then Purandara, with eyes like lotuses, employed the thunderbolt-weapon.
Then Jambha, massive as a mountain, with the mountain-weapons pacified,
With the Aishika weapon, he countered the thunderbolt-weapon that splits mountains.
The armies of the gods, along with their chariots and elephants, blazed forth.
Then Balaha, the slayer of Paka, employed the fire-weapon.
When that weapon was repelled, the fire-weapon was manifested.
Then that Daitya lord, possessed of intelligence, had his weapon repelled.
Then the sky was filled with clouds, teeming with flashes of lightning.
The world was inundated by streams as mighty as the trunks of elephants.
By means of an incomparable wind weapon, the clouds were dispersed.
The sky became clear, shining like the petals of a blue lotus.
Even those who were strong could not remain there in battle.
The lord of the demon armies acted to counter the force of the wind.
Then, when the wind was subdued, the demon king took the form of a mountain.
When that thunderbolt struck, the demon assumed a monstrous shape.
