He took up a dreadful club adorned with divine jewels.
तमायांतं वियत्येव त्रयो दैत्या ह्यवारयन् २०.
As he advanced, three demons blocked him in the sky.
शक्त्या च महिषो दैत्यो विनदंतो महाररवम् २०.
Mahisha, the demon, with a spear, roared loudly.
जग्राह शक्तिमुग्रोग्रां शतघंटामहास्वनाम् २०.
He took up a fierce spear, resounding with a hundred bells.
तामायान्तीमथालोक्य जंभोऽन्यस्य रथात्त्वरात् २०.
Seeing it approaching, Jambha quickly descended from another chariot.
तयैव गरुडं मूर्ध्नि जघ्ने स प्रहसन्बली २०.
With that same weapon, he struck Garuda on the head, laughing with strength.
विचेताश्चाभवद्युद्धे गरुडः शक्तिपीडितः २०.
In the battle, Garuḍa became unconscious, afflicted by the power of the weapon.
करस्पर्शेन कृतवान्विमोहं विनतात्मजम् २०.
With a mere touch of his hand, he caused the son of Vinatā to lose awareness.
कुभार्यस्य यथा पुंसः सर्वंस्याच्चिंतितं वृथा २०.
Just as all the thoughts of a man with a bad wife are in vain,
कृत्वा च तलनिर्घोषं रौद्रमस्त्रं मुमोच सः २०.
And making a loud sound with his palm, he released a fierce weapon.
भूमिर्दिशश्च विदिशो बामजालमया बुभुः २०.
The earth, the directions, and the intermediate quarters became covered with a net of arms.
ब्राह्ममस्त्रं चकाराशु सर्वास्त्रविनिवारणम् २०.
He quickly employed the Brāhma weapon, which wards off all other weapons.
अस्त्रे प्रतिहते तस्मिन्विष्णुर्दानवसूदनः २०.
When that weapon was repelled, Viṣṇu, the slayer of the Dānavas,

तदप्रतर्क्यं नवहेतितुल्यं चक्रं पपात ग्रसनस्य कण्ठे २०.
That inconceivable discus, equal to a new missile, fell upon the throat of Grasana.
चक्राहतः संयति दानवश्च पपात भूमौ प्रममार चापि २०.
Struck by the discus in battle, the Dānava fell to the ground and died.
ततो विनिहते दैत्ये ग्रसने बलनायके २०.
Then, when the Daitya Grasana, the leader of the forces, was slain,
पट्टिशैर्मुशलैः प्रासैग्नि दाभिः कणपैरपि २०.
With spears, maces, iron clubs, fire-missiles, and stones as well,
तदस्त्रजालं तैर्मुक्तं लब्धलक्षो जनार्दनः २०.
Janardana, having discerned the aim, released that network of weapons.
जघान तेषां संक्रुद्धः कोटिकोटिं जनार्दनः २०.
Janardana, enraged, slew countless millions of them.
