By Grasana's roar in battle, and by the great weapons, all his limbs were afflicted.
By Jambha, lord of wealth, with arrows piercing the vital parts.
Seeing that act of the demon, the mighty Lord of Wealth,
pierced his heart with a thousand arrows blazing like fire.
In an instant, he hurled ten million, a hundred million, and a billion more.
Desiring victory, the Lord of Wealth launched his own weapons as if in heaven.
Terrifying cries of many beings arose in the sky.
That mace of Vaiśravaṇa, worshipped by the three worlds, stood ready.
The demon, to counter the mace, unleashed a shower of weapons.
With extraordinary might, he cast iron clubs, maces, trees, and mountains.
Like the sun at the end of an age, it fell upon the demon's chest.
Jambha fell from his chariot to the earth, his consciousness gone.
Enraged at the Lord of Wealth, he filled the quarters with his roar.
He shattered the dense array of arrows, like breaking a powerful web of illusion.
And with ease, the demon cut them down, as anger destroys good words.
He seized an irresistible spear, resounding with a hundred bells.
Just as a man of little understanding suffers the pain born of worldly existence,
In a moment, the fierce-looking demon stood motionless.
With that spear, in battle, he struck the chest of Dhanada.
He pierced the heart of the noble one, as a wicked man wounds another's heart. By that blow of the spear, the Lord of Wealth was rendered unconscious.
He sat down on the chariot seat, silent, as a virtuous man does in the presence of harsh words.
The Rākṣasa, the god Nirṛti, accompanied by the forces of the night-wandering ones.
Then, seeing the exceedingly formidable lord of the Rākṣasas, Kujaṃbha—
He saw the army, not yet urged on, powerful in weapons and truly terrifying.
With a sword of keen edge in hand, holding his shield, he rushed forward.
He struck down many, scattering them by the thousands.
With lips and mouth clenched in fury, he filled the earth with Daityas.
Leaving the lord of wealth, the Daitya Kujaṃbha went to Nirṛti.
He seized the living captive, bound with thousands of nooses.
And all the divine vehicles and flying chariots as well.
