If one’s mind is set on attaining righteousness, wealth, pleasure, or liberation—
Whoever recites this Śatarudrīya every morning—
There is nothing more holy or greatly fruitful than this.
Whatever sin is committed by speech or acquired by mind—
One afflicted by disease is freed from illness; one bound is released from bondage.
Whoever worships the Lord with a hundred pots and as many flowers—
And also with a hundred liṅgas, and a hundred worshippers likewise—
Whoever recites it at five special liṅgas—
Hearing thus, even those in hidden places, filled with joy, pray.
Then, after a long time, Śaṅkara appeared in person.
Bakā, owl, vulture, tortoise, and Indradyumna, O king—
And also Lomaśa and Mārkaṇḍeya—they will attain liberation while living.
The liṅga called Indradyumneśvara is indeed known as Mahākāla.
Having established this matchlessly beautiful liṅga three times, he spoke thus.
The liṅga of Indradyumneśvara will bring joy for countless ages.
Whoever regularly worships the Indradyumna liṅga here—
Having spoken thus, the moon-crested one, together with those five, also—
In this way, King Indradyumna, the lord of the earth, became so powerful.
Such is the merit of this holy confluence of the earth and the ocean.
Whoever, having bathed at this confluence, worships Indradyumna’s Lord—
This linga removes all bonds and bestows the favor of Ganesha.
Thus, I have told you the greatness of this most sacred confluence, O doer of good deeds.
The greatness of Kumāranātha, which you mentioned in another story—
Having slain Tāraka, the son of Vajrāṅga, the Lord—
By seeing, hearing, meditating, worshiping, and reciting hymns—
This story is most wonderful, delightful, and destroys sin.
Who was that demon Vajrāṅga, and what was the power of Tāraka?
How was the linga called Kumāreśvara established?
Having bowed to Kumāra, the general and the Lord—
Daksha, the mind-born son of Brahma, was a Prajapati by name.
