What wise person would dwell in villages among the Kalapas and others?
And what will all the fear of thieves do there?
Without risk, prosperity is never attained in any way.
Twenty-six thousand Brahmins are in my household.
Together with them, I shall come; this is my highest resolve.
Having suddenly withdrawn, Partha, he moved through the sky, filled with great joy.
He reached Kedāra, accompanied by those excellent twice-born ones.
And, by the grace of Skanda, it was not possible to cross otherwise.
Where is Kalāpa, and that village—how could it be reached by the tunnel?
From Kedāra to Himasaṃyukta, it is said to be a hundred yojanas.
At the end of that, for another hundred yojanas, the Vāsukārṇava is mentioned.
Now listen to how it is possible to go there through the tunnel.
Then, when one is considered pure, in the southern direction from there—
To the west of the cave, there is a very large tunnel.
There is an emerald liṅga there, shining like the sun.
After bowing to that liṅga and taking that clay—
Or, water from a well should be taken at night, for the sake of Bhūtā.
One should anoint the body with it, sometimes at the sixty-sixth step.
Then, by the power of that anointment, one proceeds through the middle of it.
In the middle of the tunnel, one sees siddhas, resplendent like the sun.
There, a lifespan of four thousand years is proclaimed.
Thus this has been told to you; now listen to what happened next.
O twice-born ones, I arrived at the confluence of earth and ocean.
Having crossed that, I released them on the shore, at the sacred lake.
In the blazing fire of all-consuming faults, at the confluence of earth and ocean,
We, absorbed at the confluence, recited the supreme mantra.
Meanwhile, O son of Pṛthā, the gods led by Indra,
The eight sources of the gods, and the hosts of Gandharvas and Apsarases,
I was prepared to wash the feet of the Brāhmaṇas.
Accompanied by the sound of Sāma chants, resounding with the third note,
