एवं प्रबोधितस्तेन नारदेन महात्मना ३५.
Thus awakened by that great-souled Nārada,
सत्यमुक्तं त्वया चात्र नान्यथा नारदक्वचित् ३५.
What you have spoken here is true, Nārada; never otherwise.
भविष्यति न संदेहो नान्यथा वचनं तव ३५.
It will happen, there is no doubt; your words will not be otherwise.
पिशाचवत्कृतमिदं चरितं परमाद्भुतम्॥ ३५.
This conduct has been done like a piśāca, most wondrous.
तस्मान्न तिष्ठामि गिरेः समीपे व्रजामि चाद्यैव वनांतरं पुनः ३५.
Therefore, I do not remain near the mountain; today I go again into the forest.
निरालंबं स विज्ञाय नारदो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ३५.
Recognizing him as unsupported, Nārada spoke these words.
वंदनीयश्च स्तुत्यश्च क्षाम्यतां परमार्थतः ३५.
He is worthy of worship and praise; let him be forgiven in truth.
एतच्छ्रुत्वा तु वचनं नारदस्य मुखोद्गतम् ३५.
Hearing these words, which issued from Nārada's mouth,
दण्डवत्पतिताः सर्वे शंकरं लोकशंकरम् ३५.
All fell prostrate in reverence before Śaṃkara, the benefactor of the worlds.
स्तूयमानो हि भगवानागतो गंधमादनम् ३५.
The Blessed Lord, praised by all, arrived at Gandhamādana.
तदा दुन्दुभयो नेदुर्वादित्राणि बहूनि च ३५.
At that time, kettledrums resounded and many instruments played.
ब्रह्मादिभिः सुरगणैर्बहुभिः परीतो योगीश्वरो गिरिजया सह विश्ववंद्यः ३५.
Surrounded by Brahmā and other hosts of gods, the Lord of Yogis, revered by all, stood with Girijā.
एवंविधान्यनेकानि चरितानि महात्मनः ३५.
Many such deeds of the great soul have been performed.
यानियानीह रुद्रस्य चरितानि महांत्यपि ३५.
Whatever mighty acts of Rudra exist here,
एव मुक्तं त्वया सूत चरितं शंकरस्य च ३५.
Thus, O Sūta, you have narrated the deeds of Śaṃkara.
व्यासप्रसादाच्छ्रुतमस्ति सर्वं मया ततं शंकररूपमद्भुतम् ३५.
By Vyāsa's grace, I have heard everything, including the wondrous form of Śaṃkara.
श्रद्धया परयोपेताः श्रावयंति शिवप्रियम् शिवशास्त्रमिदं प्रीत्या ते यांति मरमां गतिम्॥ ३५.
Those who listen to this scripture dear to Śiva, endowed with supreme faith, joyfully attain the path to liberation.
श्रीगणेशाय नमः नमतस्मै ब्रह्मणे दक्षिणार्णवतीरेषु यानि तीर्थानि पंच च १.
Salutations to Śrī Gaṇeśa. Salutations to that Brahman. On the southern shore, there are five sacred places.
सर्वतीर्थफलं येषु नारदाद्य वदंति च १.
Regarding these, Nārada and others say they yield the fruit of all holy places.
श्रृणुध्वचत्यद्भुतपुण्यसत्कथं कुमारनाथस्य महाप्रभावम् १.
Hear now the wondrous, virtuous tale of Kumāra Nātha's great power.
कुमारगीता गाथात्र श्रूयतां मुनिसत्तमाः १.
Here, the song of Kumāra is recited; listen, O best of sages.
मध्वाचारस्तं भतीर्थं यो निषेवेत मानवः १.
Whoever, following the path of Madhva, worships that holy place,
ब्रह्मलोकाद्विष्णुलोकस्तस्मादपि शिवस्य च १.
From Brahmā's world, to Viṣṇu's world, and even to Śiva's,
अत्राश्चर्यकथा या च फाल्गुनस्य पुरेरिता १.
Here is the marvelous story once told by Phālguna.
पुरा निमित्ते कस्मिंश्चित्करीटी मणिकूटतः १.
Long ago, for some purpose, a crowned one came from Maṇikūṭa.
वर्जयंति सदा यानि भयात्तीर्थानि तापसाः १.
Ascetics always avoid those sacred places out of fear.
स्तंभेशस्य द्वितीयं च सौभद्रस्य मुनेः प्रियम् १.
The second is Staṃbheśa, beloved to the sage Saubhadra.
चतुर्थं च महाकालं करंधम नृपप्रिययम् १.
The fourth is Mahākāla, dear to King Karandhama.
एतानि पंच तीर्थानि ददर्श कुरुपुंगवः १.
These five sacred fords were seen by the foremost of the Kurus.
दृष्ट्वा पार्श्वे नारदीयानपृच्छत महामुनीन् १.
Having seen them, he asked the great sages who were followers of Nārada, standing nearby.
