एवं विमृश्य च तदा गिरिजां विहाय श्रीशंकरः परमकारुणिकस्तदानीम् ३४.
Thus reflecting, at that time, Śrī Śaṃkara, the most compassionate, left Girijā behind.
निर्गतं शंकरं दृष्ट्वा सर्वे कैलासवासिनः ३४.
Seeing Śaṃkara depart, all the residents of Kailāsa watched.
छत्रं भृंगी समादाय जगाम तस्य पृष्ठतः ३४.
Bhṛṅgī took up the umbrella and followed behind him.
ताभ्यां युक्तस्तदा नंदी पृष्ठतोऽन्वगमत्सुधीः ३४.
Then Nandī, wise, joined those two and followed behind.
शोभमानो महादेव एभिः सर्वैः सुशोभनैः ३४.
Mahādeva shone, surrounded by all these splendid attendants.
सखीभिर्बहुभिस्तत्र तथान्याभिः सुसंवृता ३४.
There, she was surrounded by many companions and other attendants.
ततो दूरं गतः शंभुर्विसृज्य च गणांस्तदा ३४.
Then Śaṃbhu, having gone far, dismissed his attendants.
भृंगिणं नंदिनं चंडं सोमनंदिनमेव च ३४.
Bhṛṅgī, Nandī, Caṇḍa, and Somanandin as well.
विसृज्य च महादेव एक एव महातपाः ३४.
Mahādeva, the great ascetic, dismissed them and remained alone.
काश्मीररत्नोपलसिद्धरत्नवैदूर्यचित्रं सुधया परिष्कृतम् ३४.
He sat in a place adorned with gems from Kashmir, precious stones, and decorated with nectar.
पद्मासने चोपविष्टो महेशो योगवित्तमः ३४.
The great Lord, supreme knower of yoga, sat upon a lotus seat.
शुशुभे स महादेवः समाधौ चंद्रशेखरः वासुकिः सर्पराजश्च कटिबद्धः कृतो महान्॥ ३४.
Mahādeva, crowned with the moon, shone in meditation; Vāsuki, king of serpents, was bound around his waist as a great ornament.
आत्मानमात्मात्मतया च संस्तुतो वेदांतवेद्यो न हि विश्वचेष्टितः स्थितस्तदानीं परमं पराणां निरीक्षमाणो भुवनैकभर्ता॥ ३४.
He, praised as the self by the self, known through Vedānta, not engaged in worldly actions, stood then as the supreme among the supreme, gazing, the sole ruler of the worlds.
वनं गते महादेवे गिरिजा विरहातुरा ३५.
When Mahādeva went to the forest, Girijā was tormented by separation.
चिंतयंती शिवंतन्वी सर्वभावेन शोभना ३५.
The slender and beautiful one, absorbed in thought of Shiva with her whole being.
तपसा महता चैव शिवं प्राप्तासि शोभने ३५.
Through great austerity, O beautiful one, you have indeed attained Shiva.
द्यूते हि वहवो दोषा न श्रुताः किं त्वयाऽनघे ३५.
In gambling, there are indeed many faults—have you not heard of them, O sinless one?
अस्माभिः सहिता देवि गच्छगच्छ वरानने॥ ३५.
Come, come with us, O goddess, O lovely-faced one.
यावच्छंभुर्दूरतो नाभिगच्छेत्तावद्गत्वा शंकरं क्षामयस्व ३५.
Go quickly and seek forgiveness from Shankara before Shambhu comes near.
निशम्य वाक्य विजयाप्रयुक्तं प्रहस्यामाना समधीरचेताः ३५.
Hearing these words spoken in a spirit of victory, she smiled, her mind composed.
मया जितोऽसौ निरपत्रपश्च पुरा वृतो वै परया विभूत्या ३५.
I have conquered him before, and he was left ashamed, having been overwhelmed by my supreme power.
रूपीकृतो मया देवो महेशो नान्यथा वद ३५.
By me, the great god Maheśa has been made manifest in form—say it is not otherwise.
साकारो हि निराकारो महेशो हि मया कृतः॥ ३५.
Indeed, the formless Maheśa has been made with form by me.
कृतं मया विश्वमिदं समग्रं चराचरं देववरैः समेतम् ३५.
I have created this entire universe, moving and unmoving, along with the best of gods.
एवमुक्त्वा तदा देवी गिरिजा सर्वमंगला ३५.
Having spoken thus, then the goddess Girijā, the all-auspicious one—
श्यामा तन्वी शिखरदशना बिंबबिंबाधरोष्ठी सुग्रीवाढ्या कुचभरनता गिरिजा स्निग्धकेशी ३५.
Dark-complexioned, slender, with teeth like mountain peaks, lips red as bimba fruit, blessed with a beautiful neck, breasts heavy, Girijā with glossy hair—
पाणौ मृणालसदृशं दधती च चापं पृष्ठे लसत्कृतककेतकिबाणकोशम् ३५.
Holding in her hand a bow like a lotus stalk, with a quiver of ketaki arrows shining on her back—
भृंगीनादेन महता नादयंती जगत्त्रयम् ३५.
Resounding through the three worlds with the great hum of bees—
सकामना राजहंसा बभूवुस्तत्क्षणादपि ३५
In that very instant, they became royal swans, as they wished.
एकाकी संस्थितो यत्र यमाधिस्थो महेश्वरः ३५.
There, alone, was established Maheśvara, presiding over Yama.
