गगनान्निस्सृतः सद्यो गंगौघः परमाद्भुतः ३४.
Suddenly, a most wondrous stream of Gaṅgā descended from the sky.
कूपो हि पयसां ये न पवित्रं वर्तते जगत् ३४.
There was a well of waters by which the world is never impure.
सर्वं तदा द्विधाभूतं दृष्टं तेन महात्मना ३४.
All of that was then seen by that great soul as if divided in two.
एवं विलोकमानोऽसौ नारदो भगवानृषिः ३४.
Thus, as he beheld all this, the venerable sage Nārada—
यावद्द्वारि स्थितोपश्यन्महदाश्चर्यमेव च ३४.
While standing at the doorway, he gazed upon that great wonder.
नारदो मोहितो ह्यासीत्पप्रच्छ च स तौ तदा ३४.
Nārada, overcome with bewilderment, then questioned those two.
तस्मादनुज्ञा दातव्या दर्शनार्थं शिवस्य च ३४.
Therefore, permission must be given for the sake of seeing Śiva.
ज्ञानदृष्ट्या विलोक्याथ दूष्णींभूतोऽभवत्तदा ३४.
Then, having perceived with the eye of knowledge, he became silent.
तथान्ये तत्सरूपाश्च दृष्टास्तेन महात्मना ३४.
Likewise, others of similar form were seen by that great soul.
एवमादीन्यनेकानि आश्चर्याणि ददर्श सः ३४.
He beheld many wonders of such kind and others.
अर्धासनगता साध्वी शंकरस्य महात्मनः ३४.
The virtuous woman, seated halfway, belonged to the great-souled Śaṃkara.
गौरी सितेक्षणा बाला तन्वंगी चारुलोचना ३४.
Gaurī, with fair eyes, youthful, slender-bodied, and lovely-eyed.
निर्विकानि विकारैश्च बहुभिर्विकलीकृतः ३४.
Unchanging, yet altered by many transformations, he was made bewildered.
नारदेन तथा शम्भुर्दृष्टस्त्रिभुवनेश्वरः ३४.
Thus, Śambhu, lord of the three worlds, was seen by Nārada.
शंखेन भोगिवर्येण सेवितं चांघ्रिपंकजम् तथा पद्मेन महा शेषेणापि विशेषतः॥ ३४.
His lotus feet were served by Śaṃkha, the foremost serpent, and especially by Padma, the great Śeṣa.
अन्यैश्च नागवर्यैश्च सेवितो हि निरंतरंम् ३४.
He was continually served by other foremost serpents as well.
कंबलाश्वतरौ नित्यं कर्णभूषणभूषितौ ३४.
Kambala and Aśvatara, always adorned with ear ornaments.
अनेकजातिसंवीता नानावर्णाश्च पद्मिनः ३४.
Clad in many kinds, and lotuses of various colors.
पद्मो दंभः सुदंभश्च करालो भीषणस्तथा ३४.
Padma, Daṃbha, Sudaṃbha, Karāla, and also Bhīṣaṇa.
अंगभूता हरस्या सन्पूज्यस्यास्य जगत्त्रये ३४.
They became limbs of Hara, the worshipped one of the three worlds.
फणानां द्वितयं केषां त्रितयं च महाप्रभम् ३४.
Some had two hoods, others three, shining greatly.
नवकं दशकं चैव तथैकादशकं त्वथ ३४.
Nine, ten, and likewise eleven hoods, then.
चत्वारिंशत्फणाः केऽपि पंचाशत्कं च षष्टिकम् ३४.
Some had forty hoods, some fifty, and sixty.
तथा शतसहस्राणि ह्ययुतप्रयुतानि च ३४.
Likewise, hundreds of thousands, tens of thousands, and hundreds of thousands.
अनंताश्च फणा येषां ते सर्पाः शिवभूषणाः ३४.
Those whose hoods are endless, those serpents are ornaments of Śiva.
विद्यावंतोऽपि ते सर्वे भोगिनोऽपि सुशोभिताः ३४.
All of them are learned, and the serpents are splendidly adorned.
अर्द्धचंद्रांकितो यस्य कपर्द्दस्त्वतिसुंदरः ३४.
His matted hair, adorned with a crescent moon, is exceedingly beautiful.
पंचवक्त्रो महादेवो बाहुभिर्द्दशभिर्वृतः ३४.
Great Mahadeva, with five faces, is surrounded by ten arms.
उरो यस्य विशालं च तथोरुजघनं परम् ३४.
His chest is broad, and likewise his thighs and hips are most excellent.
तद्दृष्टं चरणारविंदमतुलं तेजोमयं सुंदरं संध्यारागसुमंगलं च परमं तापापनुत्तिंकरम् ३४.
I beheld those lotus-like feet, incomparable, radiant, beautiful, auspicious with the hue of twilight, supreme, and dispelling all afflictions.
