Where shall I search, whom shall I ask, where shall I go, and to whom?
That day, I did not eat any food nor drink any water because of her.
Then, at dawn, in the clear morning, Puṣkasī went to the forest.
As she wandered in that forest, she saw a great river.
Placing that food on the riverbank, she began to cross the river.
Just then, that fierce one said to her, 'Come quickly and eat.'
'What have you done today, O slow one? What have you accomplished as the day passes?'
After bathing in the river, both of them, the couple, remained pure and observant of their vows.
Then all that food was eaten by him alone.
The food of both of us was eaten by this very sinner.
Thus addressed by her, that fierce one, beloved of Shiva, spoke to her.
What is the use of this body, perishable and with its life gone?
Those who nourish their own bodies with all their effort are truly afflicted.
Therefore, abandoning pride, anger, and stubbornness,
Thus was Caṇḍī thoroughly instructed by Puṣkasa at that time.
And because of the observance of Śivarātri, what arises is indeed without doubt.
And the two nights that occurred there on the new moon,
Many aerial chariots arrived there at that time.
With supreme devotion, Puṣkasa also spoke to them.
Some were standing in aerial chariots, and some were mounted upon bulls.
With matted hair, clothed in hides, adorned with ornaments made of serpent coils.
Then, questioned by Puṣkasa, all those followers of Pārpada spoke.
We have been sent, O fierce one, by Śiva, the Supreme Lord.
The worship of the liṅga that you performed at night for Śiva—
Thus addressed by Vīrabhadra, he spoke, as if smiling.
What have I done today, being sinful and violent?
I am always of evil conduct—how can I go to heaven?
Filled with great curiosity, I ask you truly.
Thus, as Puṣkasa questioned in this way, according to the proper manner—
The god of gods, the great god, the lord of the gods, the supreme ruler—
