Thus questioned by him, the Supreme Lord spoke.
O mighty one, this cruel being has now come for your destruction.
Desiring the welfare of many, especially for your sake, he acts swiftly.
Those sinful, most unrighteous ones who bring about the destruction of the world—hearing the words of Rudra, Śveta spoke.
Indeed, by time alone, this world always performs virtuous acts.
Some are devoted to worship, and others are wise in different ways.
Time is indeed the destroyer of all moving and unmoving beings; likewise, he is the unique protector.
If you are the creator, then quickly restore Time to life.
Therefore, O Śambhu, do this for the great-souled Time.
Thus requested by that king, Śambhu, the glorious one—
Śambhu, the great Lord, Pinākapāṇi, then smiled and revived him.
He approached, and feeling ashamed, praised the god Vṛṣabhadhvaja.
O destroyer of Time, Lord of Tripura, slayer of Tripura, O Lord—
The destruction of Dakṣa’s sacrifice was indeed accomplished, most wondrous.
That which is unbearable for others, O Śambhu, you have devoured.
Because of dissolution, the gods and demons all call you Liṅga.
Homage to the greatness of the liṅga, the supreme Lord of gods; obeisance to Śitikaṇṭha, obeisance to that matted-haired one.
Salutations again and again to you, the cause of all causes; salutations again and again to you, whose essence is both auspicious and inauspicious.
You alone are everything, the bond of the world; you are to be known through the end of the Vedas, you are of great glory.
You protect, you dissolve the three worlds, O great Lord; you are the creator, the lord of beings—there is truly no other.
Thus praised at that time by him, the Lord of the universe—
In the entire world of humans, there is truly no one besides you.
By me, this universe, this world of moving and unmoving beings, has been destroyed.
He has indeed become your follower, O great king; grant him to me.
Thus addressed at that time by him—by Śveta and also by Kāla—
You alone are the supreme form of Śiva; there is no doubt.
Therefore, you are most worthy of worship and the ruler of all; those devoted to the marks of the self approach with various forms.
Thus, Kāla was protected by that king of supreme righteousness.
Then, praised by Yama, by Death, and by Yama's messengers, he went to his own abode, O brāhmaṇas, and considered his own origin again.
Together with his wife and Māyā, he recounted the great deeds of Śiva.
