एतत्ते दर्शितं तेजो दृष्टं देवैश्च मानवैः
This radiance has been shown to you, seen by gods and humans.
नक्षत्रे कृत्तिकाख्येऽस्मिंस्तेजस्ते दृश्यतां परम्
In this constellation called Kṛttikā, let your radiance be supremely visible.
दृष्ट्वा समस्तैर्दुरितैर्मुच्यतां सर्वजंतवः
Having seen it, let all beings be freed from every sin.
प्रदक्षिणं चकारैनं सखीभिः सा ततोंऽबिका
Then Ambikā, with her companions, circumambulated him.
अरुणाद्रिमयं लिंगं चक्रे मरकतप्रभम् 1.3.1.12.
She made a liṅga of Aruṇa mountain, shining like emerald.
तस्तार परितो भूमिं पद्मपत्रैः सपल्लवैः
She covered the ground all around with lotus petals and buds.
अर्चयन्तीव शोणाद्रिमभितो दृष्टिकांतिभिः
As if worshipping the red mountain with the glances of her eyes.
प्रसादिता मातृगणैर्गंधदानविभूषणैः
She was gratified by the Mothers with fragrant gifts and ornaments.
वहन्तीभिः सुरस्त्रीभिर्वृता मुनिवधूयुता
Surrounded by celestial women carrying them, together with the wives of sages.
कांक्षन्ती शिवसायुज्यं विवाहाग्निमिवाद्रिजा
Desiring union with Śiva, like the mountain-born at the wedding fire.
प्रेषिता शंभुना देवाः परिवव्रुः सुरेश्वराः
Sent by Śaṃbhu, the gods, the lords of the celestials, surrounded her.
सर्वदिक्पालकांताभिः समेता शैलबालिका
Joined by the beloveds of all the guardians of the directions, the mountain maiden stood there.
अद्रिनाथस्वरूपस्य शीतत्वमिव कुर्वती
She, embodying the very form of the lord of the mountains, seemed to bring coolness.
दुष्करस्योदवासस्य बोधयन्तीव साधुताम्
As if revealing the virtue of that arduous penance, she stood there.
क्रीडामिव पुराभ्यस्तां तपसापि च संगता 1.3.1.12.
She, who had once engaged in playful sport, now united with austerity.
संचिंत्य चोभयोः कर्तुं शीतलत्वं जले स्थिता
Contemplating how to bring coolness to both, she remained in the water.
आधिक्यमथ लोकस्य वक्तुकामा स्वयं स्थिता
Desiring to declare her superiority to the world, she stood there herself.
अधिगम्य तपस्तस्य शांतिं कर्तुमिव स्थिता
Having attained that penance, she seemed to stand there to bring about its peace.
क्षालयंतीव लिंगं तदमलैस्तीर्थवारिभिः
As if washing the liṅga with pure waters from the sacred fords.
अपीतकुचनाथेशशोणाद्रीश्वरतुष्टये
For the satisfaction of the lord of the crimson mountain, whose breasts had not been drunk.
अधःकृताभ्रतडितो जिगीषंतीव चामरीः
With clouds and lightning placed below, she seemed to wave chowries.
सिद्धचारणगंधर्वविद्याधरविराजितम्
Adorned by Siddhas, Cāraṇas, Gandharvas, and Vidyādharas.
अष्टापदपथाकारमष्टदिक्पालपूजितम्
Shaped like the path to Aṣṭāpada, worshipped by the guardians of the eight directions.
अष्टांगभक्तियुक्तैस्तैर्युक्तमष्टांगबुद्धिभिः
Endowed with those possessing eightfold devotion and eightfold wisdom.
लसत्सुवर्णदुवर्णशालामालासमास्थितम् 1.3.1.12.
Resplendent with garlands of golden and silver halls.
वीणावेणुमुखैस्तालैः सालापैरुपरंजितम्
Enlivened by the rhythms of vīṇās, flutes, and cymbals, and the clapping of hands.
सेवितव्यं दिने दिव्यसमदर्शवृषध्वजम्
To be worshipped by day, the divine bull-bannered one who grants equal vision.
निशादिवसयोरेवं दर्शयन्निव सर्वदा
Thus, as if showing both day and night at all times.
शक्रः सुरगणैः सार्धं सहस्राक्षः समाययौ
Indra, the thousand-eyed, arrived together with the hosts of gods.
व्योमगंगाजलोत्संगशीतलो मरुदाववौ
A cool breeze blew, refreshed by the waters of the celestial Ganga.
