ततः स दृष्ट्वा तान्सर्वान्भयभीतांश्च शांकरिः ३०.
Seeing all of them fearful and terrified, the son of Śiva,
मा खिद्यत महाभागा मा चिंता क्रियतां नगाः ३०.
Said: 'Do not be distressed, O blessed ones, let no worry arise, O mountains.'
एवं समाश्वास्य तदा मनस्वी तान्पर्वतान्देवगणैः समेतान् ३०.
Thus consoling those mountains, joined by the hosts of gods, the high-minded one,
कार्त्तिकेयस्ततः शक्त्या निचकर्त रिपोः शिरः एवं स जयमापेदे कार्त्तिकेयो महाप्रभुः॥ ३०.
Then Kārttikeya, with his spear, cut off the enemy's head; thus the mighty Kārttikeya attained victory.
ददृशुस्तं सुरगणा ऋषयो गुह्यकाः खगाः ३०.
The hosts of gods, seers, guhyakas, and birds beheld him.
हर्षेण महताविष्टास्तुष्टुवुस्तं कुमारकम् ३०.
Filled with great joy, they praised that Kumāra.
एवं विजयमापन्नं दृष्ट्वा सर्वे मुदा युताः ३०.
Seeing him thus attaining victory, all were filled with joy.
परिष्वज्य तु गाढेन गिरिजापि तुतोष वै ३०.
Then Girijā embraced him tightly and was truly delighted.
लालयामास तन्वंगी पार्वती रुचिरेक्षणा ३०.
Parvatī, slender and beautiful-eyed, fondly caressed him.
आर्यासनगता साध्वी शुशुभे मितभाषिणी ३०.
That noble lady, seated in the seat of honor, shone forth, speaking but little.
नीराजिता तदा देवैः पार्वती शंभुना सह ३०.
Then Parvatī, together with Śambhu, was honored with the ceremonial light by the gods.
हिमालयस्तदागत्य पुत्रैश्च परिवारितः ३०.
At that time, Himālaya arrived, surrounded by his sons.
तदा देवगणाः सर्व इन्द्राद्य ऋषिभिः सह कुमारमग्रतः कृत्वा नीराजनपरा बभुः॥ ३०.
Then all the hosts of gods, beginning with Indra, along with the sages, placing Kumāra at the front, became engaged in the rite of waving lights.
गीतवादित्रघोषेण ब्रह्मघोषेण भूयसा ३०.
With the resounding of songs, instruments, and the great chanting of the Vedas,
कुमारविजयंनाम चरित्रं परमाद्भुतम् ३०.
The wondrous story called 'The Victory of Kumāra' was recited.
ये कीर्त्तयंति शुचयोऽमितभाग्ययुक्ताश्चानंत्यरूपमजरामरमादधानाः ३०.
Those pure ones who recite it, endowed with immeasurable fortune, attain endless forms, agelessness, and immortality.
यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्वापि कुमारस्य महात्मनः ३०.
Whoever reads or hears of the great-souled Kumāra,
हत्वा तं तारकं संख्ये कुमारेण महात्मना ३१.
After slaying that Tāraka in battle by the great-souled Kumāra,
कुमारो ह्यपरः शंभुर्येन सर्वमिदं ततम् ३१.
Indeed, Kumāra is none other than Śambhu, by whom all this is pervaded.
कुमारो दर्शनात्सद्यः सफलो हि नृणां सदा दर्शनाद्धूतपापास्ते भवंत्येव न संशयः॥ ३१.
By seeing Kumāra, fulfillment comes at once for people; by his sight, their sins are washed away, without doubt.
शौनकस्य वचः श्रुत्वा उवाच चरितं तदा ३१.
Having heard the words of Śaunaka, he then spoke of that story.
ह्ताव तं तारकं संख्ये देवानामजयं ततः ३१.
Having slain that Tāraka in battle, the gods then gained victory.
महिमा हि कुमारस्य सर्वशास्त्रेषु कथ्यते ३१.
Indeed, the greatness of Kumāra is proclaimed in all the scriptures.
तथोपनिषदैश्चैव मीमांसाद्वितयेन तु ३१.
And thus also in the Upaniṣads and in the two Mīmāṃsās.
यो हि दर्शनमात्रेण पुनाति सकलं जगत् ३१.
He who, by mere sight, purifies the entire world.
ब्रह्माणं च पुरस्कृत्य विष्णुं चैव सवासवम् तृष्टाव प्रयतो भूत्वा दक्षिणाशापतिः स्वयम्॥ ३१.
Having invoked Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Indra, the lord of the southern quarter himself, with devotion, praised him.
नमो भर्गाय देवाय देवानां पतये नमः ३१.
Salutations to Bharga, the god, the lord of the gods.
नीलकंठाय शर्वाय व्योमावयवरूपिणे ३१.
To Nīlakaṇṭha, to Śarva, who has the sky as his form—salutations.
यमेन स्तूयमानो हि उवाच प्रभुरीश्वरः ३१.
Praised by Yama, the lord, Īśvara, spoke.
श्रूयतां देवदेवेश वाक्य वाक्यविशारद ३१.
Listen, O lord of the gods, master of words, to my speech.
