We are all tormented by this seed and wish to die.
We have sought refuge in Śaṅkara, to be delivered; may we all be happy and fearless in heaven.
Thus, as all were being afflicted, fear arose among them.
For the threefold aim of life, when properly established in people, is indeed well accomplished.
Therefore, considering that strength belongs to all embodied beings,
Thus, having heard the lamentation of the gods, the Supreme Lord—
Let Mahādeva, the great Lord, be praised, due to the gravity of the matter.
So saying, all the gods, led by Viṣṇu, went there.
"Om, obeisance to Bharga, the god, the blue-throated, the gracious one."
"To the one of three tones, three measures, knower of the three Vedas, of three forms."
"Protect, protect, O Mahādeva, Lord of the world, from the seed!"
As Brahmā praised him, at that very moment the god with the bull-banner appeared.
At that time, he who is the sole friend of the world was seen, greatly honored by the noble gods.
And as the gods were praising him, the Supreme Lord spoke.
"O gods, you must now perform the act of expulsion; let all of you, O brahmins, expel the seed of Śaṃkara today."
That seed, massive as a great mountain, came forth in a single stream.
All the hosts of gods, beginning with Indra, became joyful.
Then Śaṃkara, the benefactor of the worlds, was addressed by Agni as well.
"O Lord, tell me now what I should do so that I may always be happy."
Then Śiva himself spoke these words in the presence of the gods.
He said to the god Śaṃkara, "Your energy is difficult to approach."
Then the blessed great Lord spoke to Agni.
Having accepted that command, the radiant Jātavedas, full of supreme brilliance, agreed.
Then, rising early in the morning, the women engaged in their morning bath.
Seeing that blazing fire there, all those women, afflicted by cold,
were prevented by her, yet the Kṛttikās themselves drank it and quickly entered it into the pores of their own bodies.
Then, from that fire, the seed was born and came to rest by itself.
After that, the wives of the sages returned to their own homes.
At that very moment, all those women became distressed because of their transgression.
In a single stream, that seed shone with the luster of molten gold.
