विष्णुं प्रति तदा शीघ्रं दृष्ट्वा यामि वसात्र भोः २४.
Having seen this, I will quickly go to Vishnu here, O friend.
तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा देवदेवो जनार्द्दनः २४.
Hearing those words of his, Janardana, the god of gods, spoke.
निवातकवचैः पूर्वं मोहितोऽसि शचीपते २४.
Previously, you were deluded by the Nivatakavachas, O lord of Shachi.
महाविद्याबलेनैव प्रविश्य मण्डपेऽधुना २४.
Now, by the power of great knowledge, enter the pavilion.
विपक्षा हि कृताः सर्वे मम वाक्याच्च वासव २४.
Indeed, all the adversaries have been dealt with by my command, O Vasava.
जयमिच्छंति वै मूढा न च भेतव्यमण्वपि॥ २४.
The deluded ones desire victory, but there is truly nothing to fear.
एवं विवदमानांस्तान्देवाञ्छक्रपुरोगमान् २४.
Thus, as the gods led by Shakra were disputing,
ददाति वा न ददाति कन्यां गिरीन्द्रः स्वां वै कथ्यतां शीघ्रमेव २४.
Does the lord of mountains give his daughter or not? Let it be declared quickly.
तच्छ्रुत्वा प्रहसञ्छंभुरुवाच वचनं तदा मायया मम किं कार्यं वद विष्णो यथातथम्॥ २४.
Hearing this, Shambhu laughed and then spoke: 'What need have I for illusion? Tell me, Vishnu, the truth as it is.'
केनाप्वुपायेन फलं हि साध्यमित्युच्यते पंडितैर्न्यायविद्भिः २४.
By what means is the result to be achieved? This is declared by the wise who know justice.
तदा शिवोऽपि विश्वात्मा पंचबाणेन मोहितः २४.
Then even Shiva, the soul of the universe, was bewildered by the god of love.
एवं च विद्यमानेऽसौ शंभुः परमशोभनः २४.
And thus, while he existed, Shambhu was supremely radiant.
मदनो हि बली लोके येन सर्वमिदं जगत् २४.
For Kama is powerful in the world, by whom this entire universe is affected.
सर्वेषामेव भूतानां देवानां च विशेषतः २४.
Among all beings, and especially among the gods,
पार्वतीस्त्रीस्वरूपेण अजेयो भुवनत्रये २४.
Parvati, in the form of a woman, is unconquerable in the three worlds.
देवा मनुष्या गन्धर्वाः पिशाचोरगराक्षसाः २४.
Gods, humans, gandharvas, spirits, serpents, and demons—
तपोबलेन महता तथा दानबलेन च २४.
By the great power of asceticism, and likewise by the strength of giving.
तस्मादनंगस्य महान्क्रोधो हि बलवत्तरः २४.
Therefore, the great anger of the bodiless one is indeed stronger.
उवाच वाक्यं वाक्यज्ञो मा चिंतां कुरु वै प्रभो २४.
He, who knows speech, said these words: 'Do not worry, O Lord.'
त्वष्ट्रा कृतं विचित्रं च तत्सर्वं मदनात्प्रभोः २४.
All that was made by Tvaṣṭṛ, wondrous and varied, was due to the Lord of Love.
अविद्यया वृतं तेन कृतं त्वष्ट्रा हि मण्डपम् २४.
That pavilion was made by Tvaṣṭṛ, covered by ignorance.
विवाहो हि महाभाग अविद्यामूल एव च २४.
O greatly fortunate one, marriage itself has ignorance as its root.
नारदं च पुरस्कृत्य सर्वे देवाः सवासवाः अनेकाश्चर्यसंयुक्तं विचित्रं विश्वकर्मणा॥ २४.
Having Nārada at their head, all the gods with Indra, and many marvels, were arranged by Viśvakarman.
कृतं च तेनाद्य पवित्रमुत्तमं तं यज्ञवाटं बहुभिः पुरस्कृतम् २४.
He made that excellent, pure sacrificial enclosure today, attended by many.
प्रवेक्ष्यमाणास्ते सर्वे सुरेन्द्रा ऋषिभिः सह २४.
All those lords of the gods, together with the sages, are about to enter.
तथैव तेषां च मनोहराणि हर्म्याणि तेन प्रतिकल्पितानि वसंति यत्रैव सुखेन तेभ्यः स तत्रतत्रोपवनं चकार॥ २४.
In the same way, delightful palaces were arranged by him for them, where they dwell happily; for them, he made groves here and there.
तेषामर्थे महार्हाणि धाराजिरगृहाणि च २४.
For their sake, splendid mansions and rows of houses were made.
निवासार्थे कल्पितानि सावकाशानि तत्र वै २४.
Spacious dwellings were arranged there for their residence.
एवं विस्तारयामास विश्वकर्मा बहून्यपि २४.
Thus Viśvakarman expanded and created many more as well.
भैरवाः क्षेत्रपालाश्च येऽन्ये च क्षेत्रवासिनः २४.
Bhairavas, guardians of the fields, and others dwelling in the fields,
