महिषत्वेपि संहारं स्वयं देव्या शिवाज्ञया

द्रष्टव्यं तैजसं लिंगमरुणाचलसंज्ञितम्
One should behold the radiant liṅga known as Aruṇācala.
महिषत्वे मदाक्रांतः परं लिंगेन संगतः
While in the buffalo form, overcome by pride, he was united with the supreme liṅga.
दृष्टाः पुरत्रये पूर्वं रुद्रेण पूजितास्त्रयः
In the three cities before, three liṅgas were seen and worshipped by Rudra.
दीक्षादिरहितं लिंगं दत्तं हंतीति चोदितम्
It is said that a liṅga given without initiation and other rites is to be destroyed.
कदाचित्क्षपणोक्तानां विभाषात्प्रत्ययं गतः

त्वत्पादपद्मसंस्पर्शादयं मुक्तो न संशयः
By the touch of your lotus feet, he is freed—there is no doubt.
दर्शनं शैलवर्यस्य प्रायश्चित्तं परं मतम्

आवाह्य सर्वतीर्थानि सर्वदोषनिवृत्तये
Invoke all the sacred waters for the removal of all faults.
अघमर्षणसंयुक्ता सलिंगा स्नानमाचर

आराधयोपचारैस्त्वमरुणाद्रिमयं शिवम् ।। 1.3.1.11.

अथांतरिक्षादुदभूद्वाणी कर्णमनोहरा

गंगा च यमुना सिंधुर्गोदापि च सरस्वती
The Ganga, Yamuna, Sindhu, Godavari, and Sarasvati,
अत्रैव नव तीर्थानि संभवंतु शिलातले
Let nine sacred places come into being here upon the stone surface.
अस्मिन्नाश्वियुजे मासि ज्येष्ठानक्षत्र आगते
In this month of Ashviyuja, when the constellation Jyeshtha arrives,
निवर्त्य सावनं मासमत्र दिक्पालसंमितम्
Conclude the ritual month here, equal to the guardians of the directions.
प्रतिष्ठापय तीर्थाग्रे लोकानुग्रहकारणात्
Establish them at the forefront of the sacred sites for the benefit of the world.
तापत्रयोपशांतिश्च त्रैलोक्यस्य न संशयः
There is no doubt that the threefold suffering of the three worlds will be alleviated.
स्थापय स्थिरया भक्त्या सदालोकहिताय च
Install them with steadfast devotion, always for the welfare of all people.
महोत्सवसमायुक्तं यावद्दशदिनावधि 1.3.1.12.
